6 is all you would ever need.

At this point, Bama and Oregon wouldn't deserve to have to play 3 additional games to win it all.

Especially with the 1st one being against potentially a 3 loss 8 seed. Would deem the regular season pretty much meaningless.

Give #1 and #2 byes and makes 3-6 play additional games to win it all.

it would only be 2 additional games. And the whole point is that the playoff lets teams earn their championship rather than just getting a go pass to the championships because something they deserve it.

8 makes a lot of games down the stretch meaningless, like how the Egg Bowl would have been for State this year had it been an 8 team playoff.

CFB has the absolute best regular season, and 8 squashes that.

I agree I don't believe any team with more than 1 loss should have an opportunity to be in the playoff. The only exception would be if there are a lack of 1-loss teams in the Power Five conferences.

Undefeated/1-loss power 5 conference champions should have first priority then 1-loss power 5 teams next.
