4:17 p.m. -- Some sad news to report, as Conference USA has confirmed that UAB will not be playing in a bowl game. It was expected, but it still sucks for those kids all the same.

They didn't even have fans at their home games. How well would they have traveled?

6-6 shouldn't be in a bowl game anyway. (sorry Arky)

I would like to see UAB continue to play football, but let's be realistic.

UAB attendance avg - 21,841
USA attendance avg - 17,445

Miss State @ USA game had 38,129 and was reported to be mainly MSU fans.

USA's home attendance without the miss state game was 13,308 per game.

They should let UAB take Florida's place in the Birmingham bowl against ECU. I guarantee you UAB fans will outdraw Florida.

They don't play football. Why would they play in a bowl game?
