Per @SouthernPigskin, former #UGA RB/DB JJ Green is transferring to Georgia Tech. I hate his new team, but he was always one of my favorites

That's odd. But CMR would likely allow the release because that's his MO.

Wow.

Remember when he was our most hyped-up player on defense in the offseason?

Richt shouldn't have allowed this

I like how he will let people transfer where they want and all of that but he should have blocked the 3 rivals

He will sit out a year I presume. Have fun with your one year of eligibility. Doubt we hear from him again.

I'm not sure he will be able to learn the offense and succeed in just one year. I wish him the best, except against us. I hope he plays terrible against us.

I just read that as well. I'm hoping he goes far away from us. Maybe to Virginia Tech or somewhere like that.

Richt has no option to release or not release someone..a scholly is a one year contract and one school has nothing to say where the player can go

Not true, plenty of schools block transfers

Richt lacking the killer instinct once again. He let Shaq Wiggins go without a fight and now he wants to let jj walk. UGA is not serious about football people, lets face it. We need to change our perception.

A player can leave any D1 school at any time. But he must be released from his LOI committment by that school in order to be able to play for any other D1 school.
Some coaches refuse to release a player that has pissed him off. Others will block conference or rival schools.
Richt has never blocked anyone that I can recall.

I have just now come to the realization. We just need to quit bitching about Alabama and what they have and accept at best we're a 10-3 team, because that's how much work we put into it.

Would you rather have mediocre players forced to stay on the team to pollute the locker room even more? If they don't want to be there, gtfo.

Now unconditional releases are another thing.

Richt doesn't devote his every waking minute to coaching/winning like Saban and Meyer. The SEC is tougher than the ACC or the PAC12. So we will have 9-3 or 10-2 seasons and a decent bowl every year, and once in a while go 11-1 and make the Sugar Bowl.

That said, I still love Georgia and the Dawgs completely.
