Hear me out:

If Ward is being reassigned/demoted, rather than being canned, it seems like Johnson coming back would make more sense than y'all bringing in a DC who would likely want to bring his own staff with him - which is reportedly the delay keeping AU/Muschamp from being official.

Word on the street around Auburn was that after the Texas A&M game, EJ's kids showed up to school crying because they were told they were "moving back to South Carolina."

Maybe

He may have a house off of the coast which could be why he's moving back here.

What's possibly going on is we're allowing current staff to find a job. Spurrier doesn't like to fire coaches. Ellis may be coming back to either coach or help in an administrative role. Spurrier would do that for him. Maybe something in recruiting or player development.

I think the delay in the deal would be if SC was willing to do the HCIW tag.

Yeah, I feel bad for those kids, it's tough to move around that much. They were born in MS (1 in SC), moved to SC, then moved back to MS, then moved to AL. Now back to SC. They haven't had the opportunity to put down roots. They keep making friends and then moving. Kids are like rubber though, they'll bounce back. They'll make new friends and it will be fine.

That oldest is 14 and has moved 6 times. The last move from MS was really rough in that they weren't even there long enough to make good friends. Johnson talked about it when he was taking the auburn job.

Makes sense - hate it for the guy if this ends up being how he goes out, from an on-the-field standpoint.

You buy the talk about the SEC office requesting a delay in announcements until after the SEC championship game?

Well hes not coming back so there not much to talk about

As far as the kids saying they were moving back to SC, Johnson and his wife were both born in SC and most of their family is still in the state. Kinda why it was a shock when Johnson left for Southern Miss.

I don't know anything about that. There's no official rule that says they can only announce when the SEC tells them they can, so on the surface, I don't think that it's true. I don't see how that would benefit anything. People are going to talk about and view that game, b/c it's the game on. Asking people to hold off on coaching decisions b/c of somebody else's game doesn't make sense to me.

I can empathize with those kids. Those kids are teens or pre-teens, moving around as much as they did and making friends can seem like a huge deal to them. They've moved more than some kids in military families their ages. Once they make some friends though, they'll be fine.

Correct ... plus the bastard still owns a huge house here and she still has her business here.

But you're also correct ... he is not coming back, would never be invited back - so there is nothing to talk about as far as EJ is concerned.

EJ insulted far too many Gamecock fans when he went on Teddy Heffner's show after he was hired at So Miss and basically said Gamecock fans don't know shite about football. (Albeit he was baited into the question by a comment Heffner made claiming to speak for all Gamecock fans regarding Stephon Gilmore at the time.) EJ's follow-up comment removed any doubt that he would ever be welcomed back here as one of us. It was well-circulated.
