WTF? Honestly, I don't get why LSU fans are pushing Les to Ann Arbor.

Be careful LSU, you'll end up with a shitty hire like Nebraska just pulled from Beaverton.

Why didn't UK try harder to keep Bear Bryant in 1953?

Momma called.

There was nothing they could do.

ignoring the overused word 'delusional'...

it's going to be fun either way- they are so divided on him that whether he stays or goes there should be some good

The Bear went to Texas A&M after Kentucky. Apparently due to an ego battle between him and Rupp. Rupp won.

LSU fans are not truly happy unless we are either National Champions or in the toilet being shat upon. The middle ground makes us moist and feminine and prone to melt-down.

Coach Bryant always joked that when Rupp won the SEC in basketball, the school bought him a new Cadillac and when Bryant won the SEC in football, they bought him a new watch.

Tubby left on his own. We didn't get rid of him.

It was a cigarette lighter.

There's a whole page dedicated to Rupp, Bryant, and their relationship. They were actually good friends. LINK

When Momma called, she dialed a Texas area code.

Bryant left Kentucky because he got tired of playing second fiddle to Adolph Rupp.

Hard to argue with this. I'm torn personally on what I want. But I still stand by what I have said in the past about fearing the day the Miles haters get their wish. It's hard enough to hire 2 straight coaches, much less 3.

I believe it, but those were two egos that couldn't fit on the same campus.

That's a part of it. Both wanted their teams to be the number one program at the school and it just wasn't possible.

The football program was also being looked at by the NCAA for some recruiting stuff, but it never really resulted in anything because of what was going on with the basketball team at the time.

When he left, the basketball team was under investigation for point shaving and Bryant thought it could shed a bad light on his team as well.

That's pretty much what Bryant said later in life.

He said they were too much alike, someone had to go, and Rupp was a bigger name at the time.

It just seems like things have gotten stale. I've always been a Miles supporter but maybe it is time for Les and LSU to part ways.
