Looks official

Is this a good hire? I don't know much about him at all.

Edit: should be official later this afternoon.

Man, that's a little underwhelming. I remember thinking Nussmeier was an upgrade for Bama when they pulled him.

Does Foley live or die by this hire? Or does he have one more chance to Mal Moore/Jay Jacobs his job and perception if McElwain doesn't work out?

I think Jim is a really good hire for you guys. He reminds me alot of CWM but has alot better offensive mind.
Look foward to see what he does for y'alls program. Congrats!!!

Good hire Gators, you're getting a hell of a coach and he's great developing QB's.

It's underwhelming because it isn't a "splash" hire. When I actually started researching him, he ended up #5 on my personal wish list. I am very happy with the hire.

I think out of the people we could have actually gotten, he probably had has the most potential. I guess I've always favored snagging an HC on the rise at a mid-major rather than trying to catch a Freeze or Mullen coming off a good year at a larger program or someone like Gundy who seems to be looking for a change because he may have peaked where he is.

7-7.5, not my first choice, but I like what he brings to the table. Hope he gets it done

I'd say more about a 7.5. It's not a huge "name" hire, but the proof is in the pudding. Dude took an atrocious team and improved them every season, going 10-2 this year. Considering where they were just 3 years ago that's outstanding.

If our defense can continue to be somewhat comparable to what it has been (I assume we can expect a slight dropoff due to losing wm), but our offense improves greatly (which there's no reason to suspect it won't) we'll be right back in the east race again quickly.

Call me a skeptic but just how much of his success is because of dee hart?

I'm sure that helped, but I mean it's not like he won't have talent at UF. Still, I don't think this can be ignored:

3-9 for like 3 straight years. Then enter Mcelwain. 1 game improvement to 4-8. Next year improves to 8-6. Then what he did this year. He still turned CSU around even without Hart.
