We're bad, but I wouldn't put us that low in a power ranking as of now.

People are going to be surprised by Mississippi State's improvement this year.

Using Kenpom ratings:

Kentucky
Florida
Arkansas
Texas A&M
Georgia
Alabama
Mississippi
South Carolina
Miss St
LSU
Vanderbilt
Tennessee
Missouri
Auburn

At this point It's hard to go against Arkansas at 2 but I'm not totally sold on Texas A&M being that high. Florida also isn't 5th. That is way too low. They've played some good competition. Bama may be better than expected going into the season. Time will tell.

I think LSU had some bad games but will move up the ranks pretty quickly. Beating UMASS by 22 last night was a big win for the SEC.

Not sure if you're trying to say that's too high or too low

I don't think we'll finish fifth, but right now we're not very good. This is a team that struggled to beat ULM and UAB.

We knew this year would be painful but right now the only thing we can beat is off

Gauge how teams are doing offensively and defensively stats in Kenpom, and you have your rankings.

I know UK is #1 in the nation in defense in the Kenpom ranking.

No one should be and it's more an indictment of the SEC than anything. We're likely a bubble team at best. Find out over the next week or so though as we have Az State, Baylor, and KSU all upcoming.

I wouldn't go that far. UMass doesn't have a win against a team in the RPI top 100.

Man, yall are really intimidated... Did you totally miss the part where I said Arkansas deserved top 2/3 spot? Winning at SMU is a good win. LSU couldn't do it last year when we played them in the NIT... That being said, that SMU isn't much better than UMASS (Though the road win makes it much more impressive).

RPI this early in the season is a joke. Wins over Florida State and Northeastern are both solid wins for them. And Boston College isn't horrible either.

the vast majority of Arkansas posters on this forum are obsessed with LSU.

Mizzou is currently #4 in the State of Missouri power rankings if that gives you any indication (Div. I only thank God).

Impressed by how badly they beat St. Louis (even if SLU is down this year). Less impressed by losing to TCU.

Either way, we need teams like State to at least get back to competitiveness. The league can't have 4-5 teams that have RPIs in the 170s.
