The funniest part of UAB killing their football program is seeing misinformed dipshits like you whine about it because you somehow think that its a dig against Alabama.

He's been on the board for 13 years or so. He only serves on one committee, but he does carry some influence with other board members. He served as president pro tempore for one year of his tenure. He's not nearly as powerful as people give him credit for, although I'm certain the name helped when he was starting out in the business world 50 years ago.
