Should win the Heisman

There is not really a strong contingent outside of Mariotta and Winston and you could make a valid argument for both of them and you would be right. You would also be excluding the best player in College Football. That is not a knock on Melvin Gordon.

My vote

Amari Cooper
Marcus Mariotta
Melvin Gordon
Jameis Winston

There is something to said about Winston and his ability to go from turrible and turn it around and be unstoppable in the second half of games and naturally winning 28 games in a row is remarkable no matter how you slice it but Amari Cooper is unreal.

Cooper is putting up the same stats as Marquise Lee, who finished 4th in heisman trophy voting in 2012 I believe.

Not gonna happen. Lee also had a 300 yard game.

Winston's stats on the year are nowhere near Heisman level, sans the W-L column.

Mariota will win it unless the lose to Arizona. Then it would be Gordon. If he gets shut down, and Cooper gets another 200+ yard game with 2 or 3 TDs, then MAYBE he can get it.

His stats are unreal. Then you have to factor in competition and that is big.

LINK

Might be the easiest schedule in the world. Gordon would have done similar stuff versus the SEC and he is that good but he went 10-2 versus a very light schedule.

It's hard for a WR to win that award.

wrong.

They have identical stats as of now and Coop has 1 more game to play before the voting.

It really will come down to this weekend.

If Mariota shits the bed and Oregon loses, then Gordon can win it with a big B1G 10 championship game. If Gordon also has a mediocre performance and Wisconsin loses, then Amari Cooper can win it with like a 250 - 300 yd game against Mizzou. Lee had a 300 yd game in 2012.

Mike Evans was better last year than Cooper. He's not doing anything nobody hasn't done every two or three years. MG is doing shite that nobody has done, ever.

He ran 400+ yards against Nebraska. 150 yards against LSU, in ONE half. Would have won that game singlehandedly if he didn't get hurt.

Please stop.

So they have been putting up the same stats through 12 games, with Lee having a 300 yd receiving game.

Playing in an additional championship game helps Amari Cooper make a bigger statement than Lee did. You are right on that.

I don't think AJ gets enough credit for that throw in the SEC title game. That was 50 yards on a rope in stride.

I'd like to see what Cooper's stats would look like with Manziel.

That's why I think it is a bullshite award. Its not the best player, it just goes to the most popular QB, or on rare occasions, RB.

I think Coop is the best cfb player this year. That doesn't mean he was the most outstanding this year though.

FIFY

I think Gordon and Mariota deserve to be neck to neck. I think Mariota is ahead through 12 games because IMO he's the best player in the country and he's put up over 4000 total yards and has scored 48 TDs. Manziel had 47 TDs including the Cotton Bowl. Cam had 50 TDs including the SECCG and the BCSCG. Yardage is comparable through 12 games, in fact I think Mariota might have accumulated slightly more yards through 12 games than Cam or JFF. Gotta check that.

ETA - That passing TD/INT ratio of 36/2 ain't bad either

Or, just in the air raid O. He might've had 150 catches and 2200 yds.

I think Mariota will probably win it and I think that would be totally justified.

I think Mariota, Cooper and Gordon are the 3 best players in the country and each of them is having record breaking type years. All 3 should be there and whoever wins would be worthy.

Who knows. Half the catches Mike made Amari wouldn't have been able to because of his size. Cooper's great after the catch, but isn't good in traffic or with jump balls. That is why I would take Mike over Amari any day.

Plus, Amari literally has no competition for targets. Mike had three other guys who were all reliable options.
