If lsu solves their qb struggles and arkansas doesnt lose many juniors they could be the front runners for the west next year.

I mean, on paper maybe, but we've heard this stuff about LSU for the past 6-7 years and the only year it was true was 2011 (and 2010 to some extent I guess).

2008 : 8-5 (3-5)
2009 : 9-4 (5-3)
2010 : 11-2 (6-2)
2011 : 13-1 (8-0)
2012 : 10-3 (6-2)
2013 : 10-3 (5-3)
2014 : 8-4 (4-4)

As for Arkansas, they lose their best defensive lineman, 2 of their LBs and 2 of their guys in the secondary. Their defense will take a step back. In addition they have to go to Tennessee, Ole Miss, LSU and Alabama and play A&M in Dallas.

Didn't take long for this narrative to start again.

Bama will be Bama- 3rd place in West at absolute worst. Probably favorites to win it.

Arkansas may improve on O, will hopefully maintain on D. I'm projecting 8 wins next season for Arkansas, but hey, if we get some bounces 10 wins isn't out of the question.

Auburn will be nasty on offense; good enough to compete for West title despite defensive issues. They get Bama at home next season.

LSU has the talent to win the West - need to see what direction they go with on offense. They either need to run the O they did against A&M with Jennings, or find a better passer and run a true pro style.

Arkansas' schedule is ridiculously tough. Road games at probable Top 10 Alabama, Ole Miss and road/neutral with probably Top 25 LSU, A&M, Tennessee. That's a bear.

I think they need to re-evaluate everything about their offense.

Now that you look back on their 2013 season you realize they should have been scoring 50 points a game with all those weapons and they didn't come close.

If it makes you feel better Alabama has to travel to MSU, Auburn, Georgia and Texas A&M plus play a neutral site game with Wisconsin. Not exactly cupcake city.

How do you figure? Treadwell will likely never be the same and who's going to be their QB? Liggins?

It's not like they have a power run game to lean on if they have a QB who struggles.

Ole Miss has a tough road schedule next year as well. At Alabama, Auburn, and State.

Broken bones like Treadwell's generally heal much more clean than ligament injuries. He will be fine.

I assume it will be Kinkade. No idea if he will be good.

They return all of their WR's other than Sanders, all of their OL other than Morris, their Tight End, all their RBs, all of their D-line, Tony Conner, Elston and Hilton in the secondary.

I think they will be about as good as they were this year.

Trey Flowers and Martrell Spaight are the only big losses for our defense. The other linebacker and the guys in the secondary should be replaceable. In fact, the other senior linebacker was just a role player, not an every down guy.

He dislocated his ankle. Dislocations weaken the integrity of the joints. He will deal with that injury for the rest of his football career, and life.

They are likely going to have a RS-FR at QB with a mediocre running game that won't do much to take pressure off of him. They are returning their Dline starters but weren't two of their rotational guys seniors? They also lose 2/3 of the LB core and 2/4 of their secondary, including their two best DBs.

I'm not saying they won't be good, but I think they take a step back next year.

Flowers is very good, but Philon is right there and could be a monster next season. Losing Spaight will really hurt but Braylon was virtually non existent on the field for large chunks of the season. Losing Turner is a non issue as Coley has gotten better nearly every week and will almost meet a in my be better than Turner ever was. Tevin will be missed at times, but is a nickleback.

Our defense will be good, probably not great. If our offensive line makes the strides we hope they do (if wishes were horses) and we get halfway decent QB play our offense will make up for it. Our WR corp will be better, no doubt about that.
