JC from 247 reports late last night that he is now more convinced of the possibility of Muschamp to SC...whatever that means. He also said that Lawing to SC is much more likely now.

Still nobody knows anything, and we're all just waiting for some official announcement.

Most likely, if there is some press conference announced, we'll all know in advance. Somebody will see him somewhere in SC and take a picture, or plane records, or leaks from the AD Dept, or other coaches or SCRooster gets the call to report to the press conference.

I really want Lawing to come back.

If given the choice of Lawing or Boom I'd honestly choose Lawing

Those were different days under a different administration.

I miss the two Mike Ms ... McGee and Mungo.

If JC is saying anything publicly like that, then it is something Kornblut has gotten-hold-of somehow. It's not anything JC found on his own. And even Kornblut would have stumbled-over-it or been handed something that has caused him to suddenly feel confident about the situation ... which usually occurs by coincidence while he is making recruiting calls and, well, for instance let's say he is calling Arden Key's coach to get the latest and during the course of the call Key's coach says to Korn, "yeah, Whammy was just here and here's what is going-on up there according to Whammy ..."

That's how that might happen. It might happen that way for JC as well but it's more likely to happen for Kornblut and he passes it on to JC since they are friends for the moment. And that's the only way that might happen because no one is going to talk to anyone in the local media because no one in the local media is trusted with stuff like this.

I did call the accountant yesterday, he was in Vegas, and the poster in question is definitely not him. He said he's as much in the dark as anyone and all he has heard are the same rumors everyone else is hearing.

So I called two other close friends who are very well connected - we go back a long ways - and I can't tell you exactly what either of them said ... because we are close friends and I want it to remain that way, but I can tell you that there is definitely something going-on but, again, I was told nothing counts until the signatures are on the contracts. Paraphrased, "No one seems to be in a hurry to do anything because all parties want to make sure all the ducks are in a row and no mistakes are made. But nothing is a done deal until the signatures are on the contracts."

So, it appears to involve multiple people/coaches. Auburn is still trying hard. Spurrier may be willing to forgive and forget where Lawing is concerned considering the circumstances and that no bridges were burned ... but I still have my doubts about that, although, make no mistake about it I would love for Brad to return. Good gosh, Brad, Boom and T-Rob ... that's a dream team.

Supa from 247 basically just said the same thing

quote:

#1 There is a push to get this firmed up well before the bowl game now. I know my dates on this have changed but I just report what I'm told.

#2 pin this on your board AU. We are getting your guy.

That sounds pretty confident.

I would welcome back Brad, no question, and I would want us to open his recruiting territory back up (not just Havelock/New Bern). Boom, that's the homerun here. T-Rob...we would be stupid to turn down T-Rob, but I personally don't want to lose Grady to do it. If we could bring in T-Rob as Spec Team Coordinator, I'd be all for it though. Lawing, T-Rob and Durkin were uf's best recruiters. If we get two of those guys, we're going to instantly upgrade.

Thanks again. Any idea what coaches are def on their way out? Sounds like Botkin (Thank God), Joe Rob, Deke, and maybe Grady?

Also hear if Ellis is in the plans in any capacity?

I seriously, based upon what I have heard recently and for the past couple of years ... I seriously seriously doubt Ellis Johnson is going to be allowed to return in any capacity, much less as a coach.

He burned some bridges. He's not reliable. He has a history of bolting at the first hint of something even slightly better and, for the most part, he has not been "long term" successful anywhere he's ever been.

With regard to the other coaches you mention, I just hesitate to speculate any more than I've already done in another post in this thread. I like all those guys as men, but I'm fairly sure not all of them are going to survive.

Botkin and Deke had the well-publicized incident on the sidelines and that is still being referenced by some. While neither's units demonstrated great improvement over the course of the past two seasons.

Joe Rob ... I dunno. I just don't know. Super good guy - but I just don't know. I think it all depends upon who agrees to come with Muschamp, if Muschamp does sign.

Grady ... same thing. Although I think Grady might be a sacrificial lamb if it comes down to it and room has to be made - I also can see how Grady and T-Rob could share secondary duties, Grady handling safeties and T-Rob handling corners with both of them handling Special Teams.

Deke is gone if Lawing is included in the deal. But what's being ignored in all of this is that Lawing appears to be a carryover candidate to remain at Florida - T-Rob too actually. Both of them are still on the recruiting trail for Florida and both have been told by Jim McElwain that he would like for them to stay there in Florida. Why no one is reporting that is beyond me, but it's important to note IMHO.

Now, I do not visit any other sites - this is the only one I ever visit. I don't read any other crap because I know half of it out there is crap. Plus, I just do not have the time to try to filter through all the other stuff out there.

So back to the question about what coaches might be kept and which ones might be let-go ... if I were a betting man, I think the safe bet is that we may lose one current coach, UNLESS, unless two others agree to accompany Muschamp in the event that Muschamp actually signs ...

... and now we're to the meat of the subject and the delay.

What I've been told is that Muschamp's decision may be based largely upon who comes with him and/or what he inherits at whichever program he chooses.

So, the question is:

If he signs with us but T-Rob and Brad stay at Florida ... does he like what he sees with the Defensive staff he inherits at SCAR?

If he signs with Auburn but T-Rob and Brad stay at Florida ... does he like was he sees with the Defensive staff he inherits at Auburn?

ETA the following quote a friend sent me to validate something he told me earlier yesterday:

quote:

WILL HE RETAIN ANY OF WILL MUSCHAMP’S STAFF?

For McElwain, nothing official has been decided but FootballScoop.com reported last week that athletic director Jeremy Foley wants McElwain to keep two of Muschamp’s assistant coaches on staff.

Per the report:

quote:

Foley and McElwain, per sources, are in agreement that it would be best for Florida football to retain defensive coordinator DJ Durkin and defensive backs coach Travaris Robinson at a minimum.

Durkin and Robinson seem like obvious retention candidates for McElwain, considering the success they’ve had while at Florida and their ability to recruit. Robinson is the main recruiter for the Gators in throughout South Florida.

Keep us informed. Is the JUCO signing day December 15? I have a source, albeit not a great one, who says we will know something shortly after that.

auburn's Garner is a great recruiter, but that's about it. Auburn's defense was shite just like our's last year. auburn fans were hoping that Muschamp would bring T-Rob with him.

oh lawd, that's probably the 4th real estate rumor I've seen on there in 5 days.

I don't believe any of those. Honestly, would any of us put a written offer in on a house before we signed a contract or offer letter agreement? If Muschamp had signed a contract for employment, I think everybody would know by now.

Muchos gratziass!

JC and Tony, right?

Tony used to have a great "in" at SC when Dirty Bastard Dave Roberts was here ... Tony's Dad and Dirty Bastard went to Wren HS together back in the 50s or 60s.

JC has always fed off of what little bit Kornblut gets.

But they are two good guys. Both of them are good guys actually.

Okay, here is what I was told tonight.

Nothing is absolutely done yet - but everything will be out in the open NLT the 18th - and then everyone is going to know. Why? Because some key people are leaving for a short vacation on the 19th and everyone wants this done before then.
