It's been fun, SEC, really fun -- seven consecutive national championships, your own network, the undying enmity of the rest of the country. Really, it's been great. But as you limp into the SEC championship game on Saturday, with No. 1 Alabama playing -- ta-da! -- No. 17 Missouri, I think it's time to sit down and have a little talk.

We still like you. You still put on a great show every week. What the Iron Bowl lacked in, oh, I don't know, defense on Saturday night, it more than made up for in the pageantry and emotion that only a great college football rivalry can produce.

But let's be honest. You're not what you have been. You're not all that. You're not even all that good. And now that the season is concluding, and we can step back and gain the perspective that we lose in the Saturday-to-Saturday frenzy of the regular season, maybe we can figure out how the rest of us got hornswoggled into thinking you hadn't lost a step.

quote:

The best running backs in the FBS play in the Big Ten. The best quarterbacks are in the Pac-12. So are the best defensive linemen. The ACC skunked you 4-0 this past Saturday. The Big 12 is the only conference with a chance of putting two teams in the playoff.

It's not that the SEC has taken much of a step back, it's that the other conferences are catching up.

We all knew it was coming. And what the reaction would be. Yet, no other conference will touch what the SEC has done. The SEC will just remind everyone who's boss soon enough.

More specifically - Thanks Florida and Georgia! We don't expect anything out of the rest of the idiots on your side. You're letting fricking Missouri get a big head.

The West could very well be in that position in 10 years. It's all cyclical.

I will say that it's kind of ridiculous that people are saying this after a bunch of shite east teams lost to a bunch of top-25 ACC schools. Did anyone really expect USCe, Kentucky, or Florida to win their games on Saturday?

Let's say the SEC took on any other conference in the country. The top teams played each other, the #2 teams, all the way down. I'd like to make a little wager with Ivan on the outcome. It would be like taking candy from a baby.
The SEC has the best players, the best coaches, the best fans, the best facilities, etc. and it's not even close. Let's see how the bowl games play out.

I'm not so sure that the cycle hasn't been broken. Only a restructuring of the division's can solve this

It's a challenge, Ivan loves the SEC. His way of motivating the troops.

Of course he writes that now instead of right before bowl games. If the SEC does great in bowls, people will have forgotten this shite. If the SEC does poorly, he will be the first to point out this article.

fricking hack
