Let me see if I have this straight......

Richt hired Pruitt which was universally regarded as a home run hire......

But then when Pruitt's inept and embarrassing Defense against USCe and Florida costs us a trip to Atlanta, it becomes all Richt's fault?

Makes no sense.

It's laughable to me that Pruitt gets a pass from everyone since it's his first year, but Richt doesn't get the same pass......for the simultaneous EXACT SAME CIRCUMSTANCE.

I think I see why Pruitt took the Georgia job now...... Must be nice making millions while having Richt and Bobo there to catch all the hell for your own personal failures.

The defense has made obvious improvement, but yeah it seems like everyone wanted to blame Bobo for the Carolina game when the offense scored 35 points (should be more than enough to win any game) and Spurrier called the exact same play over and over and over and Pruitt couldn't adjust to it.

Or how about the fact that CMR's policies on punishment of players (while admirable) have left the Defense sort of.... barren?

Agreed.

I still think Pruitt is an upgrade over Grantham.

Pruitt gets a pass because, even on its worst day, this year's defense didn't look like the total dog shite version of 2013. They looked competent and, in some cases, dominant. Not to mention he had very little to work with in the defensive backfield.

Richt is neither the DC nor is this his first year on the job. 14 years and no national title is going to get you chewed up every offseason nowadays. Guaranteed. It is what it is.

Personally, I think he took it because he saw the slime on the walls at FSU and he wanted to distance himself from it for the sake of future job prospects as HC. UGA is in a comparable position historically with equal access to recruits and exposure. Lateral move with the added benefit of a recommendation from the nicest guy in college football.

ok ok...I only coach peewee football but VA, this is retarded...the guy can only tell them what and how to defend a certain play...he can't actually go out there and do it himself...the players have to listen, understand, and be disciplined enough to run what he tells them to...if they don't it isn't his fault...good gawd, this board is unbearable today...im glad its close to 4 o'clock...

Pruitt has been a significant upgrade from CTG both on the field and on the recruiting trail. He has posted some extraordinary performances from this defense as well as some bad ones but that is to be expected with the lack of depth we had this year. He did great with what he had. The whole team came out unprepared against Florida so you can't pin that loss on Pruitt and the SC game was the second game of the year and we were still finding our groove. Richt has given us the same story every season for the last 14 or so years so that's why he's not getting a pass.

Wrong. Richt has to enforce the policies that are handed out by the admin. Not his policies and not his rules.

You watch the Florida game?

That Defense got their manhood stolen from them. Total emasculation. Raped.

Worst Defensibe performance at UGA in years. Maybe decades....

Against a a below average team.

Agreed on UF. But you are being selective. We also shutout Missouri and Arkansas in games a lot of ranters thought we would lose without Gurley.

We also dramatically improved our turnover ratio, and we were rarely confused on assignments. UF was mostly poor execution and a lot of holding. But I was still expecting some adjustment. And finally, the D played with a new attitude and more fire.

Overall, dramatic defense improvement, but not consistent YET.

Our defense didnt have the personnel to be really good against a team who does a lot of power running. You just can't scheme to overcome that deficiency like he did to make our previously below average secondary play above their heads.

But it's Richt's job to fight for his players. No one else in the SEC would stand for players being dismissed for some of the things that happen here. You think Spurrier or Miles would just shrug his shoulders and go "ok" while the Admin tears his defense apart?

Pruitt has had some lackluster games. He has also somehow managed to find enough defense to hold Auburn to 7.

I honestly don't know what to make of him or his defense yet but stopping the run game has not been good this year. Maybe we just don't have the type of players needed on the front lines or maybe we just suck sometimes.

I do know that Florida could have been called for holding about 5000times but we still should beat them even if they cheat.

So.....

You give Pruitt a pass for his defensive failures because it's his first year on the job. But you don't give Richt a pass for the teams defensive failures because it's the DC's first year on the job.

Again......Makes no sense. There is a massive disconnect here.

Very revealing.

How so? Which other SEC losses did I leave out besides the two that Pruitt's Defense cost us?

While I agree that Pruitt shares some blame for the overall mediocre season, I well recognize that he did not have a lot to work with especially in the Secondary. I mean shite we had unprecedented attrition of experienced players leading up to this season. I do give him a pass in that regard. Frankly, I am actually surprised that the defense improved overall under the circumstances. As for CMR, he's been around for 14 years and it's time for him to stop making stupid in-game mistakes. Hell get one of Deeprig's "smart people" up in the booth to give Richt the correct insight in critical situations.

By cherry-picking a few games and arguing that they represent a full body of work. Pruitt has participated in more than 2 games this season.
