Alabama and Missouri...you don't have to chime in right now.

Before the year, I wasn't too sure in what to expect as we lost some quality players in Clowney, Shaw, Bruce Ellington, Victor Hampton, and Quarles. However, with Dylan Thompson and Mike Davis, I still thought that if we beat Georgia, we'd compete and/or win the East. 6-6 is shite. The defense was horrible and we didn't rush the ball behind our "great" o-line.

We, somehow, maintained bowl eligibility. Still, a horrible, horrible season. South Carolina gets a D.

South Carolina - 28 Texas A&M - 52 (really started the season off with a bang)
South Carolina - 33 East Carolina - 23 (I was angry at the time, but this turned out to be a decent win)
South Carolina - 38 Georgia - 35 (I was pleased with this result)
South Carolina -48 Vanderbilt - 34 (We gave up 34 points to Vanderbilt. To a Derek Mason led Vanderbilt. Enough said.)
South Carolina - 20 Missouri - 21 (We really shite the bed here. Gave this game away. Even Mauck told Spurrier to GTFO.)
South Carolina - 38 Kentucky - 45 (Another collapse in the 4th quarter. To Kentucky. Not in basketball...)
South Carolina - 41 Furman - 10 (Hey we were able to beat up on the little Upstate liberal arts school. They only wracked up 200 yds + rushing. Maybe we can schedule Wofford next year.)
South Carolina - 35 Auburn - 42 (I never thought we'd win that one.)
South Carolina - 42 Tennessee - 45 (2 in a row....2 in a row to a Tennessee team that struggled to beat might Vanderbilt to achieve bowl eligibility.
South Carolina - 23 Florida - 20 (I'm still trying to figure out how we won that game.)
South Carolina - 37 South Alabama - 12
South Carolina - 17 Clemson - 35 (That shite Gallman rushed for close to 200 yds as a very average Clemson team broke the 5 game streak...)

Tennessee did about everything I wanted them to except ending the streak with Florida. I thought going into the season 6-6 was the most likely but was hoping for 7-5. Very scared that with the OL and DL having 0 starters that there was a shot it could be the worst year yet at 4-8.

Overall I give the season a C+ with the UF game being the only thing keeping it from being an B.

If we win a bowl game I'll move it up to a B.

Utah State W, 38-7 (Good opening season win over a solid bowl team)
Arkansas State W, 34-19 (Same as above)
at Oklahoma L, 34-10 (Young team on first road trip, bout how I expected, would be much closer at this point in the season)
at Georgia L, 35-32 (Good performance here, crucial TO's kept us from getting the big upset W)
Florida L, 10-9 (Lost to the jersey's and helmets....had the game won then choked, still hurts.)
Chattanooga W, 45-10 (Yup, bout right)
at Ole Miss L, 34-3 (ugliest game of the year but a bad matchup for our terrible OL)
Alabama L, 34-20 (First time keeping it under 30+L in 4 years...nice progress)
at South Carolina W, 45-42 (OT) (Was at this game and it was epic...love beating my residence state team. This was the swing game that made this year a success.)
Kentucky W, 50-16 (Best performance of the year)
Missouri L, 29-21 (Injuries mounted at this point and kept us from pulling this one off)
at Vanderbilt W, 24-17 (Just glad to get the W)

Very happy to be bowling and had a lot of young guys get great experience this year.

2015 should be special.

B. 10-2 is a great year by all standards in the state of MS, but there was no doubt going into the season the SEC would be down this year, and the SEC championship was ripe for the picking. Primary disappointment was the team was physically dominant the first half of the year and then seemed to try to coast in the back half of the season. Can't give an A based on that.

c- wins over KSU, LSU, and Ole Miss gives this a passing grade, barely.

Auburn: C-

In retrospect, we probably didn't have the pieces to challenge for the title again, especially in light of key injuries. But considering the relative weakness of CFB at large this year, we should have done considerably better, to the point that we could have reasonably contended for the SEC title.

Our 3 losses to good teams were too large to get a decent grade, and the loss to TAMU was inexplicable. It wasn't a meltdown and the K-State/Ole Miss away wins keep the season from sliding into true failure territory.

Well...there was a thread last summer in which I said we'd go 12-0, so my expectations were not met. I'd give it a 91.7.

The wins:
We padded our 8-4 season with wins over Sam Houston State, ULM, and New Mexico State. The Wisconsin win was nice as they are always a good, strong team. I like the Florida and A&M wins. It's always nice winning those on the road in tough environments (even though both teams had off years). We should always beat Kentucky and Ole Miss in my opinion...especially in Death Valley.

The losses:
This is what kills the season. Mississippi State wasn't as close as they score indicates. Auburn just annihilated us. We gave that Alabama game away. The Arkansas game was expected. The team quit.

Our defense improved dramatically throughout the year. The offense is typical. I'm over it. A very boring and frustrating team to watch.

Flip a coin between C- and D+.

UGA: D

Big wins over Auburn and Clemson were nice, but losses to UF and GT in the same year means the season is a failure.

Seems kinda harsh considering UGA wasn't fully ready to compete for a natty this year.

But, I guess losing the SEC east in an abysmal year for the SEC east warrants a harsh grade.

C+

If you'd told me before the year the following things would occur, combined with replacing our entire defensive staff and some talented DBs, then I would have said 7-5:

Gurley misses half our games
Mason throws for 200+ yds once
Marshall never returns from injury to make a significant impact
Mitchell isn't fully healthy until Kentucky
Scott-Wesley never returns from injury to make a significant impact
Fenteng never plays a down

In that sense, the season was successful. But, with the way everything actually played out, you can't help but be disappointed. We were two completely boneheaded decisions away from being 11-1 and playing for the SECCG with a shot at the playoff.
