Texas A&M's lack of senior leadership on defense

How does an overrated Freshman do this to an established Senior on his last game at home in front of friends, family and a national audience his university so longed to captivate? What kind of example does this set for the "Aggy Wrecking Crew"? Should he be able to play in the bowl game?

Though I'm sure that will make The Aggy Family feel much better, we're discussing a freshman running back destroying a senior safety. Not a linebacker making a big hit on kickoff team. The Aggy/Gump relationship is adorable.

Matthews led that 2013 vaunted defense in solo tackles and was 2nd on the team in total tackles. Therefore, the term "established" is more than accurate

I enjoyed the immediate Herschel Walker reference in regards to running over/through Bill Bates during his freshman year. Bill Bates was a sophomore.

That was a great call and, you're right, that comparison was made before the celebration after the touchdown ended.

Is Matthews out for the bowl game due to such public humility? I don't think it'd be smart to risk him trying to make a big play thinking it would make up for what's already transpired and ultimately fail again.
