The east will get some bowl games but will they win any of them?

Won't matter what the SEC does in the bowls, because Bama is about to rape in the playoffs.

I think the SEC is overrated this year - perhaps vastly overrated.

You have Ole Miss and MSU as top tier SEC teams. In the past, this has meant the SEC is down.

Auburn is down. Georgia is down. Tennessee is down. Florida is down.

LSU is a grease fire in many respects.

Even the most staunch Alabama fans looked at this year as a transition year that would likely not result in a national title.

Collectively, it is still the best conference in the nation. However, I don't think it is what it has been and is certainly not head and shoulders better than the other conferences.

CFB is down as a whole. More parity.

Very much agree. SEC built a bit of a bubble early on based on results of games early in the year. Alabama is really the only team who I would say has played like a legitimate top 5 team. MSU and Ole Miss overachieved, Auburn and Georgia defenses down, LSU - not really sure what to say there, Florida/Tenn don't really even deserve to be in the discussion here.

I think the SEC has one very good team, several top 20 teams, and some garbage. Pretty good, but not vastly superior to the PAC12 or Big 12.

Gotta say, I think Oregon's number will finally get called this year.

I was thinking this when the east got themselves swept by the ACC. It's not like the west didn't take care of business vs the B12.

Yeah, 0-4 is not good.

The Bama Oregon game will be a challenge. Under the old BCS system we would have Bama vs FSU, Bama would kill them.

SCar was overated, Tenn and Fla, not really since they weren't picked by hardly anyone to seriously compete, UGA, well they won most of the games they figured would matter. Mizzou, nobody picked us to win so how could we be over rated?

Auburn is certainly off last year, and were expected to finish higher by many. The rest of what you say about the West I mostly agree with.

Conference as a whole, slightly over rated perhaps, "vastly" though,, no not really.

The rest of the country and the committee/playoff system will look really bad when Bama wins both games by 3 TDs each. Then the SEC will consider breaking off completely from the NCAA and setup their own NFL farm league.

The SEC east getting owned this weekend by the ACC straight up embarrassing...especially when we have heard all year long about how weak FSU's conference schedule was.

After seeing auburn put yards and points on Bamas arse, Oregon will kill y'all. Their defense is boatloads better than auburn.

The East can win bowl games. The reason so many East teams lost last week is because it was a bunch of the worst East teams versus ranked opponents. Did anyone expect South Carolina, Florida or Kentucky to beat anyone decent?

And UGA/Tech is a rivalry that went into overtime. And UGA sucks this year.

Oregon doesn't have a single receiver as good as any of Auburn's top 3.

And I'm sure their defense is even worse.

We pushed FSU to the limit? Blew opportunity after opportunity in that game, and made Jameis shite his pants unlike any other time in his career.

I know, but I don't think FSU beating Florida should be used as evidence that the SEC is down.

I agree it hurts the credibility of the SOS argument, but lets have some perspective. The reigning national champion and undefeated Seminoles beat hapless, just-fired-their-coach Florida by less than a touchdown.

#19 Louisville beat Kentucky by 4.

And #16 GT, who runs the triple-option, beat #6 Georgia who had previously lost to two terrible teams.

It definitely hurts those people who say the SEC is by far better than everybody else, but it's hardly shocking especially considering how bad the East is. The SEC is simply not what it has been. It went 7-3 last year in bowl games so this is the one year I can remember where people have merit saying the SEC is down.

It doesn't really, though. All those teams save Georgia were fricking terrible this year. Auburn beating K State is more meaningful than any of those losses.
