- This was supposed to be a rebuilding year with a new defensive staff. Today is in-fricking-excusable given how it played out, but the season overall was either what could be expected or even exceeding expectations.

- Could still win a mediocre bowl game and finish the season with 10 wins.

- The recruiting class (if we keep it together and if we land at least half the guys left on our list) is arguably the nastiest group we have ever pulled in.

- Rumor is that Tereshinski is retiring and S&C is finally getting a much needed revamp this offseason. Did you see our drive blocking today? Trick question: it didn't exist. We need to see improvements here and we should expect them.

- Mason, for as nice a job he did at many turns this season, will be moving on and fresh blood will be injected for the next few years into the offense via a new QB.

- Nick Chubb and Sony Michel are going to get stronger and better.

- We lose Bennett and Conley but will gain some very impressive receiver talent in the new class.

- We lose Andrews but will likely keep the entire rest of the O Line.

- We lose Drew, Thornton, Herrera, Wilson, and Swann but return everyone else on Defense. Jenkins will likely stay and Floyd seems like a toss up at this point.

- Jeremy Pruitt & Co. will be in year 2 with guys that he has recruited and a lot more depth to play with.

- Mike Bobo seems to have finally put together a close-to-complete season in terms of play calling.

Outside the program:

- Carolina is reeling as a program.

- Florida is in transition.

- Butch Jones seems incapable of winning a big game.

- Vandy is hot garbage.

- We have nothing but cupcakes OOC other than Tech next year.

- We get two games before we play Carolina.

- We get Bama at home.

This loss blows, but we have been in far, far worse shape after a 9-4 or 10-3 season. Finish strong in a bowl and prepare for a seemingly bright future ahead.

God dammit please let this be true.

If Pruitt had a hand in this he was worth the hire on that alone

I believe Pruitt has a part in demanding changes to S&C but ultimately Joe T is just getting old and, supposedly, is going to make it easy and just retire.

Agreed. If JP can get a say in our S&C program it can only help

A lot to look forward to. Hopefully we will have all the right pieces fall into place at the same time next year so we can make a run for the playoffs. We can't seem to get all three phases working together in a season.

It's tough to be glass half full right now but this is a good post. Lot of positives going forward.

I'm not convinced that fresh blood at QB.is a positive but I'm excited for the rest of this #moralvictories list

Rumors didn't start on this board or with me, FWIW, and they've been around since preseason.

Call it Moral Victories if you want (I think that's fair to feel that way) but these have been the positives looking forward all year (save maybe Carolina's implosion and Tennessee failing to get over the hump). I'm merely pointing out what the road looks like up ahead in light of the usual "fire everyone" bullshite. Firing anyone and dissolving this staff now would be a catastrophic frick up. If anything, we need to be paying out raises to many of our assistant coaches to keep everyone in Athens.

bullshite.
Lost Murray, lost 1 shitty LT and one decent guard, lost 1 overrated TE.
Everyone else on offense returned, Mason had 4 years in the system with the last two games of 2013 to get his feet wet, we were going to hit the ground running with Gurley and Marshall back healthy, Mitchell back healthy, best kicker in the country coming back etc.
On defense, the only starter not returning was Garrison Smith. Returning all linebackers and all DB's that Pruitt wanted to keep. Remember? We only lost JHC and Trigga because Pruitt didn't want them. Pruitt was going to put together a MUCH better defense than Grantham, how could anyone do WORSE than Grantham, remember?

This was never supposed to be a "rebuilding year."

Stop making up a bullshite historical narrative.

Give me a minute and I'll move on to your next bullshite point.

We lost JHC because he couldn't lay off the weed.
We lost Trigga because he was a fricking cancer.
We lost Shaq because he was a pussy.

Well, this defense was a lot better than what Grantham put out there and that is with having a razor thin secondary.

Tomato Tomato. One person might think that's good, another will find that quite disappointing. You list that as a positive, so I know where you stand and what you expect from this team.

Anyone that hasnt committed by now is very unlikely to commit later. I bet you for every new recruit that commits (that is worth a damn) we'll have another one flip. We just shite the bed for the SEC hopes and shite the bed to our state rival. And we still don't have an IPF. Any recruits that wanted to be Dawgs because they love UGA have already committed. We are still going to have a great class, but get ready for some disappointment.

Rumor is that Jon Gruden is going to Florida and we will be his whipping boy for the next 15 years. Rumors are pointless.

I am excited about that, but it could also be a bad thing. Again, turning over a new quarterback... will that be an excuse for next year? Next year, will you use that as another excuse? And if so, why would you at this point call this a positive if you are going to use it as an excuse later? It's intellectually dishonest.

Sorry but Murray ran the offense last year and defenses feared the deep ball with him at the helm. We were strictly one dimensional without him there. And when you get a new defensive staff, it doesn't matter who you have returning, it's going to be a different ball game from the year before.

There was no way we were going to move forward without missing a beat this year, but we did a surprisingly good job on both sides of the ball in most of our games.

No no no, it was because Pruitt didn't want them. He "processed" them, remember? We were gonna be "just fine" on defense, remember?

Hell even when we have the talent like 02, 05, 07, 12 richt still can't fricking win. The only positive will be when he is gone.

Prove to me that that's the wrong move to be making. I never said extend Richt's contract. By all accounts, every other coach has done a phenomenal job this year.

I agree with some of those. Despite our big offensive numbers this year against some weak defenses, we'll need a downfield passer against top 10 defenses. That's one reason I'm not so upset about not making the playoffs; we just didn't have the passing game (or defense) to win it in 2014.

I'm not convinced about the recruiting yet. We've picked up some guys who appear to be projects. I also wish we'd get another big DT recruit.

Still not sold on Bobo. He's a good coach, but not a great game planner and play caller IMO. Ted Roof out-coached him today.

Hopefully our depth will continue to improve and we'll make it through the offseason without decimating an entire position group like we did in 2014. That would be a huge plus if we could start the season without playing walk-ons.

It's a positive relative to what I listed above it. arse.

You're so, so wrong. But that's nothing new.

Then just ignore it. I woouldn't expect you to kiss my feet if/when it happens, anyhow.
