Penalties and depth cost us the game, not Chaney

The breaks that went our way in the LSU and Ole Miss games didn't happen. So our old enemies lack of depth and mental errors came back to pay us a visit.

I wouldn't complain if Chaney was gone, but he didn't cost us the game. And as much as it pains me to say it, I still think he'll be back next year. Cut out the stupid penalties and add more depth we win a few more games this year. If we'd of done that almost nobody would be calling for Chaney's head. Hoping Bert proves me wrong and fires his fat arse. But if he doesn't fire him, gotta believe he sees how changing other factors not named Jim Chaney would help our team before firing our OC.

I just hate the hb toss to the same side 5-6 times a game.

0 points scored in the 2nd half when our defense allowed 6 points through 3 quarters. Too many toss sweeps and pass plays instead of running between the tackles which was working. Once it was apparent Brandon was done (about halfway through 3rd) Austin should have been put in, or heck, Brandon should just not have played at all if he was that hobbled. A good OC would have found a way to move the ball and at least gets some FG attempts in the 2nd half and give our D a rest.

Our defense did everything it could to give us a chance to win, but offense was inept in the 2nd half and that's on Chaney.

I agree, but let not pretend that Chaney hasn't dicked us out of about 3 wins.

Depth was the biggest issue I saw. We've got hobbled guys playing all over the place and no-one able to come in and play at a high enough level to replace a guy at 70%.

This coming recruiting class will need to be on the field more than redshirting.

I don't think there's any excuse for that last drive. We had 4 minutes and a hurt qb. No reason to become so one dimensional. I wish we would have run between the tackles and stopped with the bs to the outside. We're not Mizzou. We don't need to "work the perimeter".

Correct me if I wrong, but in the first half didn't we have a YPC of like 6.4 yards?

Injuries happen when players get tired. We looked beat up on offense this game. What was with Skipper's hands wrapped up? Depth will fix this.

Skipper can barely walk and yet he is all we have at LT. Gonna have a tough time with two future NFL DE's in that scenario.

I will also echo the statement that I am beyond fricking tired of the way too often run toss plays. They almost always get blown up. I can't fathom why in the world Chaney thinks they are a good idea. Run a damn stretch play if you must attack the edge so bad.

Also, it was beyond obvious that we were going to run the draw when we came out in the traditional I each time after we hit a big run the first time. We never run out of a traditional I set and we came out in it twice more and they blew it up worse each time. Run a damn PA out of it to try and keep them off bance.

They were on the field the whole time and eventually got worn out. I believe this is the first game since Auburn where we haven't led in TOP.

You have a good point. But they still didn't play well when the going got tough.

Missouri: 86 plays
Arkansas: 60 plays (11 came on the final drive)

Our defense was gassed the whole 4th quarter because Missouri had a 30 play advantage after they scored the go ahead touchdown.

Part of the reason our defense did so well against LSU and Ole Miss: LSU 56-ARK 66 and OM 71-ARK 71

They were exhausted.

he relied too much on a hurt QB down the stretch. we had 3 minutes to score a TD, plenty of time to run the ball. if Allen was 100% i wouldn't gripe as much but he clearly wasn't healthy, not enough to put the game on his shoulders.

I was calling for more run plays on that last drive as well, but then Collins fumbled. J Will has been having ball security issues for the past three weeks. Maybe Chaney thought putting the ball in our running backs' hands wasn't any better than airing it out.

Because they were exhausted. Go play defense for 40 minutes and see how you feel at the end of it. I bet you tackle like Lawrence Taylor.

I'm generally in the psrt of the crowd that OC gets blamed too much in losses.

But man it was so obvious BA wasnt gonna get it done. And you keep throwing it anyways. Either run the ball with Brandon or put Austin in there.

Brandon couldn't even hit Cornelius on a three yard flat.

Penalties didn't cost us the game bc we scored TD's despite them in the first half.

Inability to capitalize on opportunities because refusing to change qbs did.

fricking this. Also we don't ever need to run that LSU type head on deep pitch again. Play is garbage and just asking for a fumble everytime

Depth is a bigger issue on defense. Having your Offense continually go 3 and out on pass plays and run zero time off the clock doesn't help us a bit.
