I'm not really down with this forced rivalry thing but the more I read the Arky threads I'll have to admit some of you HAWGS are pretty damn clever and master trolls. Now I confess after reading some of this shite it actually started raising the hackles on my back but just about the time my "jimmy rustling meter" was going to peg at the choke a HAWG position I backed away and a profound realization hit me like a Hawg fan hitting his sister from behind..............., who in the hell thought it was a good idea at your sorry arse institution to deem the HAWG suitable for the university mascot? Was it the curators who got the final say? The story was in 1910 after a football game some neck named Bezdek exclaimed "the team played like a bunch of Razorback hogs" Are you frickin kidding me? That's all it took and now you're forever the HAWGs? Ok sorry, Razorbacks but it don't change a damn thing it's still a feral HAWG, y'all know a HAWG is the most filthy, disgusting creature on all fours? they'll eat shite, waller in their own piss, the nasty fricks will eat anything. Now let that settle in your skulls and simmer a minute or two, I apologize if I've offended any of you Billy Bob's but does that sound like some of y'all? You know what we do with HAWGS in MO? Here let me tell ya, if feral we hunt their asses down so they don't destroy the countryside and they end up in the ground covered with hot coals or with spit up their arse and over a open fire. HAWGS are only good for killing and eating they should not be the mascot for a school of any sort let alone a D1 university. For gods sake y'all live in the hills couldn't ya have used the Raccoons, Possums, Rattlers, Copperheads, Polecats, Banjo Pluckers, Shiners? hell we would have let ya have the Bald Knobbers but y'all settled for frickin HAWGS.

Yeah, name dates clear back to the 1890's, actually has a basis in history and was the name given to the militia/gaurd that protected the state capital from insurgents during the civil war.

Hugo Francis Bezdek was a Czech-American who really did it all in the sports world. He coached football at Arkansas, Oregon, Penn State and for the Cleveland Rams in the NFL. He characterized Arkansas as Razorbacks after the team beat LSU and finished the season undefeated (I think someone recognizes us as national champs that year.)
Besides, it's cool that we have an original mascot. If you said you hated Razorbacks, everyone would know who you meant, but if I said that I hated Tigers?!? Yea, you'd have no freakin clue.

I hope all that research made you feel better about being Razorback HAWGS, and if you read my previous post the Tiger name dates from the 1860's, I think that's old enough to be original.
