Received some tickets for Saturday to take my son to his first game. How early do we need to be in Athens to find some parking? Any recommendations on what time to be in the area for the dawgwalk? Coming in from the hwy 129 area. Not enough time to get a tailgate together so hopefully can walk through and show him the "sights".

There Re decks downtown that will run you $25 for the day. Worth it, imo.
Then you can casually stroll thru downtown and campus on your way to the stadium. I would plan to arrive no later than 10am though.

We park free at the intramural fields and ride the shuttle free to campus. It always works easily for us. I don't have experience with the pay lots though so I'm sure others will chime in on some of those that may put you closer to the stadium.

Honestly I think the dawgwalk blows. I'd skip it.

No jive here bug man.
I haven't been to a game in the last 10 years and I am sure things have changed. If the game was after 5pm I'd probably have plenty of time to get there and figure things out but being at 12 would like a little info.

OK. Here's the skinny. Games at noon, so get to Dwagtown by 10:30 at the latest. Park at the high school. Lots of GT fans there, but lots of spaces as well.
Save the fun stuff for post game. If the kid is older, go downtown and walk the bar area. Get some pizza at one of the places close to the main drag. If he's younger, just walk around campus and point out some of the cool stuff. Old campus is better for that, because of the historical buildings.
And show him the arch. Please explain why nobody would ever put a center column in an arch.
You're whale cum.

Thanks Lumbergh...
for letting me know where not to park and where the fish fry is.
Should I call my builder since there is no center column in the arch in my house either Drules?

You are coming 129 which turns into Prince. Pass Milledge (Dunkin Donuts is on corner for reference). Park in pay lot at any of the churches. Presidents House is right there. Stroll couple more blocks to downtown. 10:00 is good advice.
People telling you to ride buses and park at high schools don't live here. I do. Not necessary. Getting out of Athens is huge issue and my recommendation gets you out of town quick with no turns, plus your walking route includes heart of downtown and North Campus...ring the bell, Herty Field, historic buildings.
After game...Teds for Pizza or a World Famous.

No need to call your builder. There shouldn't be a center column in an arch.

129 S Jefferson (get gas, ATM, etc here, before you get to Athens)
Turn Right on College Avenue in Athens. Cross two lights and the Parking Deck is on the right, slap in the middle of town and 1 block from the Arch.
If the deck is full..... you go to the new deck.... continue straight on College Ave until it deadends on Broad St at campus. Turn Right.
Then take the next right on Lumpkin (you are circling around now).
Turn left 2 blocks later on Washington. 1 block down is the New Deck.
