I know we are new to the party here in the SEC, but I have to admit, I've always been in awe of the "Iron Bowl." It's always meaningful and last year was the craziest sports moment I've ever witnessed. Cool write up about the game as well as a podcast with former Tiger Jeris Mcintyre talking about just how much it means to play in the game: Iron Bowl= Best Rivalry in Sports

It is, although I wish it could be the best simply for close games, history and pageantry, instead of being the most toxic rivalry in sports.

It definitely has more tradition and better games, but no game matches the hate of the Egg Bowl IMO.

Awful article.

For one thing, it's the 79th Iron Bowl, not the 78th. And RT/WE was not "wildly entertaining and informative" to anyone who knows the slightest thing about what the rivalry actually is and represents.

No, I don't think so.
It is certainly passionate. I lived in B'ham for 7 years and the week of the iron bowl isn't seen anywhere else.
But I think there are better rivalries.

In the SEC, yes. The Iron Bowl is the biggest.

In sports overall, there are several that are bigger especially from a national perspective. The Iron Bowl is more regional. It's important to the state of Alabama and fun for the rest of the SEC.

But on a national scope? Meh.
