You beat me to it...was gonna start a Happy Thanksgiving thread myself...but that's ok. Im long winded and want to add some thoughts on this day of giving thanks.
First of all...we are Gators...nuff said.
Next year holds a lot of promise..as Boom said the cupboard isn't empty at all:
QBs check check check
RBs ditto
WRs still a slight concern but Demarcus has shown the ability to be a real play maker and the whole group should improve...Fulwood is in need of real WR coaching and hopefully we will have a staff which includes a top notch receiver coach. If anyone has noticed...Fulwood made several blunders on deep passes and obviously did not understand the play call...twice with Driskel and once with Treon...pass went way long and he went short....fortunately no picks.
TEs if Jake McGee can get sixth year and return, we are in high cotton. We used mostly seniors this year and have a youthful group redshirted or special team experienced.
OL not as bad as you might think...depth with experience is an issue...but we have Thurman, Sharpe, Cameron Dillard, DJ Humphries, Rod Johnson, Drew Sarvary (JUCO sr), Antonio Riles, Nolan Kellener, Kavaris Harkless, Travaris Dorsey and Andrew Mike.
Will add defense....right now turkey is ready
Ok...Im back...had to take nappy after all that food then I watched a local news channel segment on health and it stated that the average Thanksgiving dinner eaten by Americans is about equal to the fat content of three sticks of butter
Geez
Anyway...something to really be thankful for as a Florida Gator on defense:
DL stout is the word, young players like Thomas Holley, Gerald Willis, Justus Reed, Khairi Clark added to experienced DL like Caleb Brantley, Jon Bullard, Bryan Cox, Jay-nard Bostwick, Joey Ivie along with Alex McCallister...then add Jordan Sherit & Taven Bryan as young talents...Sherit (#17) played in the EKU game and will get more snaps in 2015. The only issue might be Bullard getting bad advice and leaving early....he really needs another year.
LBs we lose a few seniors who have a ton of snaps and we might lose Antonio Morrison if he leaves early....but we did recruit the position well two years ago and they will pay dividends in 2015, Daniel McMillian, Alex Anzalone, Jeremi Powell, Matt Rolin to go along with Jarrad Davis. We will be hurt if Morrison leaves early...but our coaches must have felt good about our previous recruits two years ago because they ignored the position for the 2014 class? Look for us to sign about three or four LBs for 2015.
Secondary an embarrassment of riches
Special teams we lose Christy but have Townsend in waiting, Austin Hardin will be a junior and Im sure we can use one of our skilled guys to return kicks/punts.
Another thing to be thankful for is that the rotating west division foe will be coming to the Swamp...we have UT at home...so we could start out well...UK will be dangerous on the road, USC, Mizzou & LSU ditto....the girls school travels to the Swamp....the dawgs will have new qb.
Lets be thankful we are part of an university that does things the right way and isn't a sleazeball school that tolerates criminals and the win at all costs mentality.
