Bama and Sec fans: if UK and Bama were to swap their future Hall of Fame coaches this off-season; Calipara to Bama and Nick Saban to UK, which coach would have the most success 5 years later? Would either win a Title? Interested in your comments!

Definitely Calipari. He's smart enough to find good assistants to do the work for him and he would spend 90% of his effort on recruiting. Saban's ego would make him try and learn to actually coach basketball and he would suck.

Cal easily. A recruiter like Cal can fix a basketball program in one recruiting class.

I think Saban would have more success because he's the better coach at his respective sport. I've never gotten the comparisons between the two. Saban's accomplishments dwarf Calipari's.

Saban would have more success, because Bama would still get an elite coach to replace Saban and the focus would still be on football.

Doesn't mean much coming from you. You would prefer Messi playing soccer at Bama before Saban being our football coach.

Cal, he would get the players quicker than Saban.

Turning Kentucky into a football power would be a massive undertaking encompassing many years.

In basketball you only need 5 studs.

Why would I care about Messi playing at UA? We aren't even a NCAA team. Saban only has a few years left. Cal is 8 years younger than Saban. We could still attract some of the best coaches in college football. You can't say that about our basketball program at this time.

People say things like "you only need five studs" as though that's easy.

Sure, you don't need as many players to turn around a basketball program, but the talent pool you're pulling from is also a lot smaller. And even if you do recruit well, development and system are just as important in basketball as they are in football unless you're recruiting prepackaged NBA players, which Idon't think Cal would be able to recruit to Bama.

Cal recruited at UMASS and Memphis, but wouldn't be able to recruit at Alabama? Don't follow that. I think Saban's ability to recruit would be a much bigger issue.

I didn't say he wouldn't be able to recruit... But, no, he probably wouldn't be landing Top 5 talent consistently at Alabama.

Don't know, don't care. Football is a much more profitable and significant sport.

Umass and memphis have rich basketball history. Alabama has next to 0. Recruiting at alabama would be more difficult for Cal

I believe Calipari would.

But I honestly believe Nick Saban could take te Wildcats to a national championship within 3 years of his arrival to Big Blue.
