I don't get the Verne/Gary hate.

Gary Danielson is actually a great announcer. One of the best in the business. Verne is that goofy grandpa but he's been in the game for decades. They do a good job together. I don't understand the hate.
I'm guessing it's mostly LSU fans since everyone picks on LSU

Gary is good as long as he's not at a Bama game. If he is, he is too busy cockgobbling the Tide.

Just b1tches whining because Gary doesn't gloat over their chosen team 100% of the time. Verne is a clown and losing his mind so he can retire whenever but it doesn't ruin my Saturday.

They tend to either not know a lot about football, unlikely, or just speak before they think things through. The latter is understandable giving their job I guess. They tend to be too adamant with their opinions rather than siding with reason. There is nothing wrong with this, except it inherently pisses off half your viewers.

Gary is knowledgeable, but can come across as a smarmy know-it-all, particularly if you are stressed out watching your team in a tight game.

Good post. Verne is past his prime, but Gary is extremely knowledgeable. Fans get butthurt when he doesn't suck up to their team. I'm fairly grateful to be able to watch so many games, I remember the days when there were 1-2 games on a day. The announcers don't bother me.

Not at all. he explains the smallest things to the viewing audience like he's a genius and everyone watching is retarded. The hubris he displays on each broadcast is like something I've never seen before.
