In 2010, Texas tied with Mississippi for the highest percentage of U.S. workers in minimum-wage jobs. This year (2011), it has the 4th highest poverty rate of any state and it ranks 1st for adults without diplomas. It also leads the U.S. in children without health insurance, and 26% of all Texans have no health insurance.

The world’s largest (and oldest) rattlesnake roundup is held every March in Sweetwater, Texas.

Hell, go to Uptown New Orleans, and you can pictures of roads even worse than those pictured.
I love this state, but if we don't have the worst roads in the country, I don't want to see the state with the worst.
Still would rather live in LA, over TX.

I don't know that I'd go as far as calling it the "sh## stain" of the country. It's more like the backed up commode of the country though. All those rivers flowing into the Mississippi River emptying out in S Louisiana which by any measure is an environmental disaster.

Louisiana naturally is a flat, boring incredibly dirty state. The only remotely interesting feature is the Achafalaya basin between Baton Rouge and Lafayette. New Orleans and the people are fun but even New Orleans is so trashy that you feel like you have to take a shower after a few hours there.

During the few short years I spent long haul trucking, I'd have to say California was my least favorite state.

As for Texas...

Texas is our most important state in terms of trade with Mexico:

Texas is the only place I have ever seen signs like these...:

Seriously

No prob getting from Point A to B:

B. E. A. Utiful scenery:

Texas is definitely a close second on my personal list of crap states.

Louisiana does have some shitty roads but mississippi and michigan are both just as bad in many parts.

I've had some damn good meals in Louisiana and most of the people I met seemed like genuinely friendly people as well.

I'm sure most people in Texas are nice enough but more than a few I met weren't as kind to outsiders. Kind of a subtle arrogance if you will...

Btw, can any of you from Texas please explain to me the reasoning behind throwing shitty toilet paper in a trashcan??

Yeah. In Texas they put native Americans in concentration camps. They called them Reservations.

It is laughable that Aggies take so much pride in Texas because every single non Aggie in Texas is embarrassed by their weird cult
