Auburn Beats Bama...

But JJ does it - not Marshall (for whatever reason). Is this season still a disappointment or a stepping stone? Both?

Assuming a Marshall injury or something?
I'd probably be absolutely giddy about next year. Still wouldn't make up for everything this year, but it would do a lot.
9-3 isn't bad considering two years ago we were 3-9.

It would most definitely be a success.

I'm always happy. Well besides 2012

I'd be happy to see us win it with JJ. If NM is sucking it up, he should ride the pine. AU doesn't owe him anything, and the glory of his previous work at Auburn shouldn't keep the best QB (JJ) off the field. What I'm saying is, if NM is really struggling, we shouldn't take the mindset of 'well, he deserves to play out the rest of his AU career as the starting QB because he did so well in the past'. NM has really struggled without Duke in there to bail him out on 3rd down, and I still wish we played JJ MUCH earlier against UGA.

We probably could put Marshall at DB and get better production without practice than what we currently are getting

Auburn beats Bama with any caveat - it's a successful season. Even if it's not what we originally wanted.

Auburn shouldn't keep the best QB (JJ)
Do you have a tangible reason to believe this?

I'm hoping NM once again rises up against adversity.
Like it or not, NM represents our best chance at winning THIS game.
The game will have a tremendous impact on his AU legacy.

I disagree. In the long run he made his legacy last year as the starting QB for the SEC champions. That's his legacy

Not at the moment, but in my comment, I was not asserting that JJ is currently the best QB. If NM is really struggling against Bama, I will start to question if he's the best QB to have on the field at that present moment.
I was wondering the same thing against UGA.

When Marshall wins the game with an unbelievable performance - keep your arse quiet. This JJ shite is unbelievable.

It would be unbelievable if we were talking about Sean White. With the limited opportunities JJ has looked solid.
BUT...
I hope NM puts on a hell of a show.

Marshall hasn't been good of late and this will be the best D we play. I have little faith that he'll put together a "big" game and beat the tide. JJ would give us a much better chance airing it out 20+ times but he'll have to wait till next year

JJ is one dimensional until he proves he can run the ball at this level. Bama beats one dimensional Qbs.
We can't stretch the run against Bama (or anyone) but I think Nick will be able to run between the tackles which will open up the second level for some play action. I'm sure Nick will throw up some 50/50 balls deep...Sammie, Duke and Ricardo will have to win those battles.

Get your mind right. We're gonna frick their season up. Misery loves company.

Here's why I think JJ can be effective. When he passes the ball, he makes quicker decisions and throws more accurately than NM (I saw this against Arky). With this, the o line doesn't have to hold the pocket for so long. I understand this isn't really a problem with NM because when the pocket collapses after he can't make up his mind, he extends the play by escaping. If JJ can begin to pick apart their secondary, the running game will then open up. This is something we really haven't seen happen effectively this year save LSU because our passing has been all but consistent.
This said, throwing JJ into the mix in the most hostile environment we've seen all year may not be a good decision, but if it's apparent this team just wants to get to the offseason, why not play our QB who will be starting next year?
For the record, if you rewind to mid-season, I fully supported NM.

Gus will not change his plan. Im looking forward to seeing JJ as much as the next guy but if you think he can get away from that defense with our shitty Oline play, you are mistaken.
We will need Nicks legs in this game if we are to win

I think we will see Nick take the ball more than we have at any other point this season.
