I just love how non violent it is. They are dumb, though.

As a reformed hippie, I still love a good protest. I mean... that kind of stuff is what makes Fayetteville.

I remember getting righteously indignant over Kohl's Kills Trees for God's sakes. I think my picture was even in the paper holding a sign for that one. Don't have the time or inclination these days, but peacefable assembly and civil disobedience are things that make our country great.

I miss Khols Kills Trees. Reminds me of a simpler time when a grove of pin oaks was the worst thing that could get hurt.

Whatever happened to the dude that had climbed the tree and was living in it so it couldn't get cut down? I assume he's an accountant at Wal Mart headquarters or something now. Or maybe mid management making 6 figures at a pharmaceutical company.

That was actually a lady. Her name is Patricia Mickelson. Her husband is a painter in town, and he does work for us on occasion. He's really shy and kind of anti-social, though, so I've never spoken with him about that protest.

Kohls and the building adjacent were the first in a long line of development out in that field. It was kind of a shame seeing a huge grove of old growth oaks taken down like that. They managed to save maybe 20% of them. I like the way the city got the creek preserved out there and then extended the trail system through it. For suburban type development, there's a lot more nature out there than there would be in 90% of other places.

I mainly look down on the Ferguson stuff because I disagree with them. I support their efforts with gay rights, recycling, environmental protection, and even with transgender rememberance day.

Damn, there's a long list of things they are involved in. One of my first memories of the protest culture were the Meat is Murder folks who show up down there every Thanksgiving. Fayetteville is one of the reasons PCU was such a hilarious movie to me.

Fayetteville has always had its share of people who are a bit different.
