With the Birmingham/true Iron Bowl sentiments......

In my perfect world, B'ham/Jefferson County (or possibly surrounding areas) would get their city's finances in order and build a 65- 70 thousand seat multi-purpose retractable roof arena. This would continue to draw NCAA tourney games, that big fishing tournament, and whatever else they could steal from ATL and N'Awlins. Every third year a true Iron Bowl would be once again renewed with the 50/50 split seating that you still see in the Red River Rivalry and "World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party." I've always enjoyed the road games more than those at home, due to that hostile environment and the bond that forms between fellow fans. That environment is electric opposed to the easy going strenght in number Bryant Denny games. The split seating with the Cowburn fans would really up the stakes, every third year. I would have also been behind a "throwback" game at Legion Field, every 5 to 10 years, if they had kept the Old Lady in better condition. It would be similar to the yearly Baron's Rickwood Classic. Speaking of Rickwood, I wonder if some historical preservation and funding could have been used for Legion, before it was too late. As the TV ratings prove, Birmingham is not only the "Football Capital of the South," but the center of the college football universe. Seems worthy of preserving.......

I would love to see Alabama play in Birmingham again one day. I don't think it will ever happen unless Birmingham builds a 65k dome stadium and somehow gets a higher slotted SEC bowl game

The Barn would never agree to it even if B'ham built a new stadium and seating was 50/50. They feel like B'ham is an Alabama town and want it on their campus for the revenue and recruiting.

I hope we never play another game in Birmingham. This game should only be played in the on campus stadiums.

I would rather Auburn move to the Sun Belt and we never play them again. But maybe that's just me.

It's not just you....maybe Conference USA will take them after the BOT shuts down UAB football.

To me, it's no longer the Iron Bowl. It's the Alabama-Auburn game.

OK, I'll preface this by admitting that I know absolutely nothing about competitive fishing. So unless you're talking about snagging Japanese carp out of a fountain in front of the stadium, exactly how does this work?

Me too, but I don't want to see it go back to Birmingham. When I was a student in the 90's I actually enjoyed going to Birmingham for games over game in Tuscaloosa.
Lot of great memories in Legion Field.

The area around Legion Field has deteriorated to the point where going there is intimidating to many people. Hell, Birmingham itself isn't so great. Besides, the Barn will never go back to neutral site. They insist it's unfair.

State of auburn needs revenue and for recruits to see their shitty little campus. They'll never agree to a neutral site.
