Help me understand the MSU mindset.

If MSU fans really want to see their team in the final 4 with a shot at a championship, they should be wishing/wanting/rooting for an outcome that will facilitate that. Given that they win the Egg Bowl, their best chance will be for Auburn to beat Alabama. Other than that, a miracle will have to happen to get them in.
If they think that they will make the 4-team playoff over a 12-win B1G champion, they are crazy.
There are still a lot of possibilities for them to get in, but all are not likely:
1) Alabama loses to SEC East Champion
2) tOSU loses in B1G Championship game
3) FSU loses in ACC Championship game
4) Oregon loses in Pac12 Championship game
Even if one of the above happen, they may still get snubbed for a Big12 round-robin champion.
MSU not rooting for Auburn just doesn't make any sense.

If I may ask, why do you care who their fans are rooting for/against? If we win out, we win it all. Who cares about what another teams says, does, thinks? Food for thought, brah...

What makes you think this is true? Because you haven't seen any grind threads? Please.

Alabama did it in the BCS days

Let's not fool ourselves. The committee was set up to stop 2 teams from 1 conference from getting in. They may have 2 teams on there now but wait until after conference championship play.. they will *find* a way to get 4 of only these teams in:
winners of B1G, SEC, Pac12, ACC, Big12
Personally, I prefer the top 4 best teams regardless of conference but until it happens, it ain't happenin'.

And you only just provin' my point.

It is more of a curiosity thing. I'm so used to following all the other games and knowing exactly what needs to happen for Alabama to still be in it, that it baffles me that MSU can be so oblivious/nonchalant about it. I remember going nuts that night in 2011 when everyone lost to put us back in it. I remember the Auburn/Ole Miss game this year that put us back in the SECWest hunt. Those games are often as much or more fun to watch than Alabama games.

TCU has to play at Texas.
Ohio State will not get in. But for the sake of arguing, they have Michigan this weekend. Then they have to play Wisconsin in their title game, I 100% do not think they are capable of beating wisky right now.
FSU has to play Florida and Georgia Tech, both are capable of beating them.
Alabama has to play Auburn, the favored team wins the Iron Bowl over 80% of the time, I do not see Auburn winning without Williams healthy. You then have to play Georgia, if UGA brings their best game, they WILL beat you. However, I don't even remotely believe Richt will bring their best to Atlanta.
There is a lot of football to be played, it's not going to be smooth sailing from here out, upsets will happen.

I would like for Miss State and Bama to both make it. I still think Oregon State could be Oregon or Florida could beat Florida State. We need to get to the #4 spot to be safe. Plus, that would allow for the opportunity for MSU vs Bama for the Championship. I honestly think both Bama and MSU can play better than they did in the game in Tuscaloosa. State fans want the rematch.

They have been in our favor so far, even after our Bama loss. If we soundly beat the team that handed Alabama it's one loss this weekend and they don't put us in then it's out of my hands.. Similar to the OJ verdict. There's a right thing to do but is it worth the ripple effects? We'll see..
The beauty of this is had Bama lost vs MSU they wouldn't have this same slim opportunity.

I guess this answers my question. It's not that they don't care, it is that they are ignorant. Apparently they think it is so much of a lock that they are in that they don't have to worry about the Iron Bowl.
My fault for underestimating how dumb the MSU fan base can be.

1) Why are Alabama fans so dead set on State not getting into the playoffs? Scared?
2) Where does this rhetoric originate from? Certainly not the committee. Every week they have talked about Ohio State's loss being pretty detrimental to their postseason ranking.
3) You know that we're not pulling for Auburn how?
Keep telling yourself that, sweetheart.

So we should worry about it more?
What frickin good will that do?

What they need is a mulligan and their coach to go on tv to lobby and convince the committee to put them in. Sound familiar?

He won't see it that way.
Also, if OSU does get In over State it'll be due to politics, just like the Bama LSU rematch. .

I'm fine if they get in. I'm just curious about what's going on in their minds.
Also: 21-0

You're so scared of a rematch on a neutral field.

I missed where they said the committee was going to identify the best 4 conference champions. Wait... they didn't say that.
