JT's stats reflect more of what their offense is than his production. They throw it far less and thus less passing yardage. They take a TON of shots deep and thus the lower completion %.

I am not saying JT is Mariota but he is the best passer CPJ has had since Nesbitt. Probably a better passer than Nesbitt.

Well, yall all thought we'd make UF bite the curb. Dylan fuggin Thompson ripped this defense to shreds as did Justin Worley. Yall just wanna act like it's later in the season so obviously we'll kick their arse?

My point is that GT is more balanced than they have been in a while. Love yalls undying optimism but, yea, believe we kick their arse at your own risk. That game will be close and they will move the ball. One can only hope they get turnover happy and Chubb keeps them off the field.

I usually lean toward the pessimistic side of our games, but not this one. It probably has less to do with the respective teams and more to do with the fact that we are a mighty long shot to make the playoffs either way. I don't care much about the bowl games, and I only care about Tech as it pertains to our greater goals. Recruiting is strong, our young defense is gaining experience, and I'm optimistic about the future of the program (at least until the economy implodes and we stop playing football altogether).

Maybe the Dawgs will give extra help to cover Smelter

Might open the pitch or something like throws to Waller or Zenon

I dunno how the GT pass blocking will hold or if the Dawgs will bring a strong pass rush but Thomas will need time (prolly biggest concern)

Pruitt knows to shut down the middle but will he be successful with less people to stop it while keying JT or Smelter

I doubt Georgia Tech scores 31

Paul Johnson will be very happy to take the short inside gain if Pruitt is willing to give it to them (which I suspect)

If expect the Dawgs gameplan is to spread out Tech's D-fence and then run on every play..

GT will prolly single cover everyone & maybe it's Mason's duty to check out of the run into a pass (figure this scenario its the best chance to stop the UGA offense)

Short passing and screens will prolly be open

Expect the Dawgs to score atleast 28

How to stop Tech

1. Stop the Dive. Its meant to get 3.0 ypc, once they get more than that, youre dead. They don't have as great a FB as Dwyer, but if you let them beat you inside it sets up the entire perimeter game and Midline.

2. Hammer that QB every time he touches the football.

3. Knock the QB's facemask off every time he touches the football. Make him eat dirt.

4. Flatten the QB on every snap.

5. Rip the QB's head off on every snap.

I dont give a shite if you get a late hit or unsportsmanlike penalty, you make that QB regret he stepped on the field.

The QB makes it all work. If he drops back to pass, hit him. If he keeps, hit him. If he pitches the ball, hit his arse anyway. Make him hesitate.

You do that, you beat the option.

Porter,

I figure Pruitt will allow the short gain & will wait for GT to make a mistake

Synjin Days is big and Laskey prolly has the quickest 2 yard burst in all of football

JT knows how to get down & the pitch will be effective if the D-fence plays "assignment football" and tackles him on every play

GT's backup QB is a more accurate passer if it comes down that

The #1 priority will be stopping anything up the middle. Period. I'm sure we're confident enough with our ability to tackle in space on the perimeter because of our athletic advantage. Obviously, athleticism only goes so far against the triple option, but our athletic advantage has rarely hurt us in the past against CPJ. I think losing Snoddy is significant and I don't think Thomas is a very good passer. With that said, things could go awry if we miss tackles, overpursue and get beat on the rare one on one shots down field.

If Mason is accurate on play action, then I expect our offense to be successful. Your pass rush is abysmal and our OL is very good. Your defense, as a whole, is average to below average.

This game concerns me, but I think something wacky would have to happen for Tech to pull off the upset. Arky losing Friday, a big early lead, forcing TOs and special teams miscues could be the recipe. It's possible. With that said, our offense is better, our defense is better and our special teams are better. It would be quite the upset.

In normal years I'd think this would be a squeaker. But the Dawgs have too many weapons at home vs Tech for this game to be close. We've faced a better option style O in AU. Tech better tweak it some or it'll be a long day for them. We'll score a lot of points and I just don't think the bugs can keep up.

Defensively, if we win first down, it'll be a good day. Call it a cliche or coachspeak if you will, but playing agaisnt the triple option magnifies the importance of winning first down. If they're in 3rd and 6 or longer, Pruitt will be salivating at the blitzes he can bring after Thomas.
