I always thought that lining up or passing the ball before it's kicked, was the same as an "offsides on the offense" ie a whistle and dead play, I guess kicking team is not the same as offense. I guess after the ball is kicked its like the proverbial "free ball", still needs to go 10 yards before touched and they didnt really come close to that either time either. Neither of those plays was as close to a "proper" onside recovery as a lot of Tenn fans want to believe, but hey the refs sucked much of the night, why should that get those right too!

A lot has to go right to recover an onside

Kicking team not supposed to block before the ball goes ten yards either are they?

Apparently it's just last night, but did Tennessee get awarded possession? Did they not get penalized? Did you lose the game because of it?

No? Then you should be banned for starting stupid threads.

The rule is....The kicking team can't block before they can legally touch the ball. If the receiving team touches the ball first before it goes ten yards, the kicking team can block after the touch even though the ball didn't go 10 yards.

HERE is the play
