Barring a nuclear warhead being detonated at the dud next weekend -- Progress is shown and we make the post season with the youngest team in the country.

We've all said it this year, "Just get 6" and continually improve from last year. Couple that with returning 95% of the roster and it's hard not to feel good about the future IMO

Go VOLS(Edited for NorthGA)!

Exactly.

All we have to do is get a W next week and we can call it a successful season. There's a lot to be optimistic about in Knoxville.

6-6 and a bowl = mission accomplished. That's a great feat considering we have possibly the worst and most inexperienced O-line in the FBS.

Mizzou game was icing on the cake to be honest. They had the better team and they're 9-2 for a reason.

O-line will be better and more experienced next season but I'm worried that they'll still be subpar. It's trench warfare in the SEC. Senior-laden/talented linemen are a must.

By no means is this a cop-out, but given the circumstances of this season, 6-6 with a shot at 7-6 is still $$ to me. I remember getting picked to win 3-4 games total pre-season by a a lot of outlets.

Not only were we the youngest team in the country, but the only team in CFB to lose every single starter on OL and DL from the year prior and played a fricking ball buster of a schedule. That's a lot to have to over come, but I thought they handled it as well as they could have for the most part.

It would be icing on the cake to get AJ back in time for the bowl and come out with a W for the seniors

Last night just wasn't our night but like you said all the goals are still intact. Our OL just couldn't do a thing with their DL and the other losses piled things on.

On to Vandy. Let's Bowl!

I agree that this season is still a success with bowl eligibility and hopefully a subsequent win.

I'm gonna say this, and don't want to come off as negative...we are where most of us thought, win wise. But I don't think anyone expected florida and USCe to be as bad as they were. So, all in all I'm happy, I just think we will look back at should should've been a 7-5 regular season.

This team should be very good next season...only way they're bad is if coaching gets in the way.

Lucky us:
----
SportSourceAnalytics @SportSourceA · 3m 3 minutes
The teams the #Vols have played this year have combined to win 70% of their games. This is highest in FBS. Lowest in FBS is North TX at 36%.
----

I know folks don't want to hear it but with our OL being what it is, it's truly amazing we've won the games we have. It's hard to be analytic as a fan but when you are you can see that the job CBJ has done is nothing short of amazing. It just doesn't feel that way and of course he's paying for the time wasted by other coaches.

Good times are ahead boys and girls. I believe that with all my heart (and my brain too).

The Vols will win next weekend and go bowling. And your future is extremely bright. Next year in Columbia will be completely different, and I wouldn't be surprised if y'all win that one. Your baby vols are going to be outstanding.

Tennessee is emerging as my favorite team to play, and not just because I have Vols in my family. Y'all are a good bunch. There was smack talk, but it never got condescending and hateful like with some fans. Bad Trolls excepted, of course. Some of my friends have wanted Mizzou to play Tennessee for years, thinking it would be a good rivalry, maybe one that's kind of friendly and somewhat respectful. Unlike the venomous ugliness with those mouth-breathing terrorists to our west.

I'm really looking forward to playing y'all every year in the future.

Oh you just say that cuz we've sucked lately.

In all seriousness, it's been a lot of fun playing Mizzou. The fans of both teams seem to really get along great IRL. And for the most part, I think UT is secure enough in its past accomplishments and laurels to admit a good team when we see one. A lot of teams aren't but between our culture based hospitality and the things we've accomplished in the past/knowledge that it will get better, I think we avoid a lot of the BS.

We'll probably be hellacious online when we do start winning - that's always when the trolls come out.

Agreed, this year met expectations. The handling of the clock at the end of the game does concern me though.

After the first attempt (and no we weren't offsides - the kicker is allowed to have his plant foot over the line (dats da rulez but offsides isn't reviewable), so I understand why it was done. I mean frick you recover two onside kicks and that happens? Un-fricking-believable. Granted the second one we were in the wrong but still. I completely understand why the challenge was made.

And to be fair, those two incidents were such a kick to the dick that it took the wind out of our team and our O - I honestly don't believe we'd have been able to mount a comeback after two blows like that (it's one thing to not recover it but another for that to happen). A reversal would've gotten that morale back.

I don't think it's likely we get it done either way, I mean even if we recovered the kick we still have to score a TD AND get the 2 point conversion. Even then your in OT and who knows what happens

But it's not about that, it's about the challenge at the end of the day and I don't blame them for trying. You have to make a split second decision and they don't see all the replays that we do, ppl always seem to forget these things

I have yet to see a replay to see if we were offsides or not but a lot of ppl including the announcers sure seemed confident that we were

I agree. I think those complaining/obsessed about it are kinda looking for something to latch onto but regardless that call, good or bad, was the least of our issues.

As for the announcers, their reaction is one of the big reasons Butch is getting roasted on the challenge. Had they said nothing you wouldn't hear much about it at all. Of course, folks will never admit to it but it's true. They puppet announcers on a lot of things.

And no we're not offsides... RTI showed it. What people thought was offsides was that the kicker's foot was over the line BUT that is not offsides and 100 percent allowable by rule. Unfortunately, offsides calls can't be reviewed.

I agree. There's been some head scratchers from the staff both years. I think the direction is good though.

OT - But I just roasted someone in the "Why the Hell is OM called the Harvard of the south" thread (pg 3). So of you want proof that I can go off check it out. I thought about going harder on him but refrained. I hate drive-bys and utter stupidity and he engaged in both.

I'm not a 'teacher' and if you truly don't know the difference you should send back the degree whatever institution of higher learning may or may not have granted you.

As for the private sector, I'm quite versed in that and I'd bet a great deal of cash I've been involved far longer than you given that I've been a part of it since I was a small child. My family has owned a private sector business dealing with major manufacturers for as long as I've been on this planet. Everyone from GE to Auto Manufacturers and everything in between. I've also participated/worked this business which is quite lucrative.

I don't like pulling any of these cards but when you insist on being an arse you get what you deserve. That said, the private sector often but not always thinks too well of itself in many fields - moneymaking doesn't equate to smarts anymore than what university you happen to attend. A business degree, even among those in business is a joke these days.

And you do realize what I and many others think of flaming idiots?

That may be the one of the nicer "roasts" I've read, but given who it's coming from I'd say job well done -- Owned

I thought Vols&Shaft would do the same to Volfan30 in the "Butch Jones is not a good coach" thread. -- Maybe he did although I haven't checked the last 2-3 pages and probably won't.

at that thread btw

I'm trying. One day, my inner potty mouth will break free on tRant. So far that hasn't happened just yet but it will with these idiots.

And Jesus, 30 in that CBJ = clusterfrick. And I'm surprised Shaft didn't kill him. I swear to gawd 30 drives me more batshit at times than anyone else. He's not stupid either so I don't understand what the frick his deal is. Hell he can even be a decent poster so long as it's not about coaches. But gotdamn his inconsistency and dislike for our coaches drives me up the wall.

As I've said, Volfan just does it for trolling/attention. He's admmited himself, idk why yall cant figure that out

Then again I barely pay the rant any attention so maybe that's why it doesn't bother me. When I joined It was a pretty good place for discussion but it quickly has become totally worthless

I'm in 30's head, he even tried to claim that he doesn't care what I think, but we all know that's bullshite.

He's trolling. He does it to preempt other fanbases. I don't really understand it, but that's just what he does.

He's also pretty good at trolling y'all it seems like
