May not be the best solution.

Ellis Johnson has fielded a good defense at every school he's been at. I don't think he's completely forgotten how to coach defense in one year.

Our Seniors have had to learn several different schemes since joining at Auburn. At some point there needs to be consistency in staff in order to develop players and recruit to scheme. Ellis deserves at least one more year and if things go to hell next year then we can talk.

So fire Gus? Cause who actually thinks that Lashlee does anything other than what Gus tells him to do?

Gus needs to make some changes. What he's doing is not working.

I'm just tired of the solution always being to fire someone at every little stumble.

By the standard that is being created Bear Bryant would have never made it past the '69 & '70 season to have his great run in the 70's.

Our D recruiting isn't good. That is on the coaches.

We play with terrible technique. We are not a good tackling team. We make every QB look like an All-American. That is on the coaches.

You can't fire the players.

If we stay status quo, we will remain mediocre. A team should not have to score mid 30's every damn week.

Is it not? I thought we have recruited pretty well on defense?

What about the line 2 years ago with Daniel and Lawson. Tre Williams last year? It didn't seem deficient to me.

Starting with Scott Fountain. Special teams were meh last year and have lost us games this year, including January.

I think it's easy to pick on defense because it's been an issue going back to the Chiz era, however, they're not the only issue this team currently has.

Also, one reason for our lackluster defensive recuriting could be the constant changes to the defensive staff. Maybe a couple of seasons of stability would bring about an improvement on the field an in the quality of players we bring in.

They've had one full recruiting class that they've brought in so far. Those players are freshman.
