Obviously the only reason Arkansas' OL has more depth than ours is because Austin Golson transfered. That set our depth back years. If it wasn't for him transferring Luke would have a solid dominant 2 deep OL. Also everyone knows it takes 5 years to get an offensive lineman like justin bell to lose any weight.

Its year three. The first year he had one month to recruit. You can't expect a great OL in year 3 when there was absolutely nothing left.

Losing what would have been your starting RT because he mentally isn't there hurts as well.

Justin Bell isn't starting on MSU offensive line. Fahn Cooper isn't starting on Bama OL. We have two SEC starting caliber OL. Tunsil and Taylor. Tunsil was out the 2nd half hurt.

You can't ask for miracles. The Rbs are not the reason our running game sucks. Our running game sucks because we have reserves starting on the interior OL.

Bert has recruited for two years. Why is it he has depth and we don't?

Arkansas first year they got a 5 star RB who fits their system. To add to that they added 4 star TE Hunter Henry who is perfect for that system. He got two 4 star guards in Reeve Khoeler and Denver Kirkland. He also got Skipper who was a 3 star and I think a 4 star tackle on some sites. These guys were forced to play year one due to the lack of talent left on their team.

2014 they got Brian Wallace a 4 star OT. They also got 4 star OT Frank Ragnow. Also 3 star Jovan Pruitt and Sebastian Tretola who was a JUCO guy.(touchdown guy)

These guys are playing out of necessity. Part of the reason they lost so many games was because they were so young. Now after playing together so long they are starting to gel. It shows.

On the other hand look at our OL.

We have 5 star Tunsil. 4 star Aaron Morris who is coming off of knee surgery and hasn't been the same since. Ben Still who was a 3 star guy with only offers from Memphis, Tulane, W. Kentucky. Justin Bell was a 3 star guy who had offers from Memphis, MSU, and USM. Fahn Cooper was a 2 star player whose only other offer than Bowling Green was Ohio.

Recruiting hasn't been our issue. In less than a month we were able to get 3 stars Ben Still, and Robert Conyers and then added Pierce Burton and Darone Bailey who was a bust. 2013 we got the #1 OT in Tunsil, #3 OT in Golson, 3 star Daronte Bouldin and Davion Johnson who are RS freshmen not SEC ready yet. Last year we got the #2 OG in the country in Taylor, 3 star Tyler Putman, 4 star OG Jordan Sims, JUCO 4 star Fahn Cooper, Sean Rawlings 3 star, and Christian Morris who the year before was the #9 OT in the country.

Our guys just aren't there yet because we didn't decide as Bieliema did that we are just going to play these young guys, build the foundation with them, lose a shite load of games and when we gel things will come around. It takes time. I think our run game will be much better next year with more experience and better talent.

While I appreciate the compliments I just wanted to clarify a couple of things you posted. Reeve Khoeler hasn't played a down at Arkansas and probably never will. Brian Wallace is redshirting. Frank Ragnow is our backup C. Jovan Pruitt didn't qualify and is at a JUCO.

The biggest reason we are winning games right now is the work our new DC has done on that side of the ball. We have gone from a defense rated in the 70-80's in scoring and total D to one that is around 20 this year. We also brought in new coaches at DB and DL in the offseason as well and both units have shown HUGE improvement this year.

If we can keep Smith from being hired away from us after this season then we might make a run at 9 wins next year with as much as we return. I'm obviously getting ahead of myself with that thought considering how tough the West is but it's hard to deny how big of a job he's done with our D in less than a year.

Werner and Luke aren't the problem. Nobody on our staff needs to go. Werner should be downgraded to just a QB coach, Luke to just offensive line coach and Hugh should bring in an actual OC to talk things over with.

Not one person on this staff has done anything to be fired over.

Agreed Henry. My how some people go off the deep end after what admittedly was an embarrassing loss. Nonetheless, Freeze definitely needs an OC. That only makes good sense. Even I can see that.

Matt Luke gets a lot of shite and I'm not 100% sure it's justified. Justin Bell was never supposed to be a starting O-lineman in the SEC and Aaron Morris is half (or twice) the OG he was prior to injury. But unfortunately they are our best options right now. Give Luke some time to get his guys in there. Tunsil, Cooper, and Conyers have all been serviceable.

The problem is Luke should be taking what he has and coaching them into something atleast decent. We need to wait a few years for him to get a bunch of high rated OL recruits before we run the ball?

By the time Luke gets some of "his guys", the good / decent OLinemen that we have will be gone and we'll hear "well Tunsil graduated. It's hard to replace a talent like that at LT. Give Luke a few years to get new LT."

And who makes the call for Bell to be pulling when he 100% cannot pull at all? Or who is not making some kind of adjustment there? I would think it should be obvious to all of the coaches but since Luke works the closest with them maybe he should mention to Freeze "hey Bell is already very ineffective, but when we have him pulling on running plays he is 100% ineffective to the point of not even being in the play"
