McElroy & SEC Nation fail math

Along side Greg McElroy Peter Burns reported that if Mizzou wins out they get to the SECCG. Then Burns said that Mizzou has a 36% chance of beating the Vols and a 41% chance of beating the Razorbacks. Then Burns said Mizzou has only a 2% chance of winning out.
If the single game probabilities are correct Mizzou has a 12.71% chance of reaching the SECCG.
I thought McElroy was a Rhodes Scolarship candidate. How does he not know probabilities?

McElroy isn't going to point out someone being an idiot on television because he's a professional.

Mizzou's chances of winning out are "LOL", so it doesn't matter.

They could be counting the SEC Championship Game as "winning out," and giving Mizzou a 15% chance of winning that game.
.36 *.41 *.15 = 2.2% chance of winning three.

A staff researcher compiled that data. Greg and Burns don't do their own research on nuggets like that. Greg isn't going to tell Burns he's wrong and they aren't going to question a behind the scenes employee on the air.

Regular season? Yes, and that's what this thread is talking about.
Overall, we went 5-1 down the stretch.
LOL indeed.

I took a math class with McElroy, and probabilities weren't covered by the course.
