Through his recruitment Duke maintained he was going to be 1 and done. Last week in posts I shrugged off JGT and BMatt said their opinion was that Duke was coming back next year. JGT even said he thought there was a high probability of him returning. Hoke just posted that he was told Duke was thinking differently about going pro and leaning to returning next year as of now. All FWIW.

They all have second thoughts... It's human nature. Cam was said to be thinking about coming back.... Same for Mason last year. But most guys end up making the decision with their head and not their heart.

I'll believe Duke is coming back when I see it.

My father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate said both Duke and Sammie are coming back next year.

Financially it may be best for him, with JJ behind center i believe our offense will resemble more of a traditional offense with Duke having a chance to put up bigger numbers and possibly becoming a first rounder.

Except that for those two guys it would have made zero logical sense to come back. In this case (with both Duke AND Coates) thinking with their head would dictate returning. Did you seriously just compare Duke to Cam/Mason? The guy will have played less than one full season (because he's currently injured) and is currently 7th in the conference in yards per game, 8th in receiving yards, and has a whopping 5 touchdowns. He is clearly an NFL talent, but lets get real here, you're comparing him to a guy who won the Heisman and had one of the single best QB seasons of all time and a second guy who ran for 1,800+ yards and was a Heisman finalist. Your comparison is bogus.

Hoke just went ahead and predicted Duke will return. As long as he does not put 70% to it then he has a chance of being right.

I'm comparing his mindset to those two guys, not necessarily the production on the field (which as been enough to get him a combine invite and likely an early round selection). Dukes age also weighs into it.

If this isn't true, I will hunt Hoke down and hit him in his nose.............hard.

ETA His draft stock will improve immensely with JJ as the QB, IMO. He will be targeted many more times.

This isn't even remotely surprising. You can pump "one-and-done" all you want, but we're looking at three games left in the season and he's hurt and honestly hasn't done shite compared to the field nationally because our offense hasn't granted him the opportunity to do so. The NFL doesn't scout stats, but there is a general performance bar that needs to be met. A guy who plays less than one season and who isn't even a standout in his own conference isn't going to be drafted highly. Neither is a guy who is dropping balls left and right and currently has 447 receiving yards (Coates).

Hoke said some if the same shite leading up to Masons announcement last year... about how it wasn't a forgone conclusion that tre was leaving.

This just smells like throwing your audience a bone during some pretty crappy times... hope I'm wrong and he comes back... JJ and Duke would be ridiculous.

Yeah, I think it would be a HUGE mistake for Coates to enter this year. Dude is a physical specimen but he needs a lot of work on his hands.
