Chason Virgil -35 tds/6int passing -8td rushing. One of the best young people I've ever coached -only flaw was trusting "coach" Mullen.

Was he actually committed?

@neill_jeff
@kenthodder @Sir_Roflcopter yep and he's turned away schools bc of his loyalty to Miss St. And they pushed him to grad early.

Why did they pull it you may ask?

@kpop1978 Because Loyalty is not a priority in "coach" Mullens office.

I'm assuming there's more to the story, but it's a shitty look for us either way. I'm going to be pissed at our coaches if the story is even close to accurate...

Mullen is getting roasted right now by Dallas and Texas media people.

The way his coach has responded doesn't lead me to believe there is much more to the story.

Of course, there may be something he doesn't know. Hopefully everything works out for Virgil.

The kid committed back in May. Before State's great season.

I'm a State fan -- I'm very aware of when he committed...

Maybe Dan needs to learn what "commitment" really means. He's the one that doesn't consider a kid committed if said kid still wants to take visits.

Maybe it is exactly what it seems -- it's just pretty out of character for Mullen to do something like this in recruiting for no reason and especially without warning. His MO has always been brutal honesty with kids, which hurts us in recruiting more often than it helps us.

Maybe he just messed up here. If it is what it seems, he deserves to get roasted for it...

Dude, every school does it. Including yours. He had a choice to gray shirt for a year, he decided to do something else. Better he find another home than get buried in the depth chart with Dak returning, two guys red shirting this year, and another QB with a much higher ceiling coming in next.

His coach isn't helping the kid. He looks like a child having a public meltdown on twitter.

It is what it is. Taking guys early in the process can be a great thing one year, and the next you're stuck trying to find a spot for guys that are seriously interested in your program.

I realize it happens. However, I don't recall hearing of many coaches asking kids to enroll early only to pull their offer two weeks before they graduate high school. Maybe I've missed similar stories.

Yeah -- my thing is -- Virgil literally lit the world on fire in Texas this year in an offense just like ours.

Just all seems really strange... Especially involving an EE guy(apparently not a grade issue)...

Yeah, I don't think anyone is happy about it and I'm sure Mullen less so than the rest.

I honestly think Dak may have made the definite decision to stay for another year and as a result we didn't have another QB spot. That is the only thing that I can see happening this week, unless a major QB recruit is in the bag and we don't know it. Which I highly doubt seeing as Mullen apparently thinks Tiano is the next big thing.

Have you seen his release? The problem is the kid is skin and bones, he has to have that molasses slow release to get any heat on the ball. I honestly think he has at least a year in the weight room and maybe another to change mechanics.

He's way more of a project than anyone else we have had. Mechanics issues as well as size issues are a problem. Would make a lot of sense if Mullen told him to put on weight and he didn't.

Doesn't seem smart when it will spread around to every HS coach in the state and TX produces a ton of good QBs every year who would fit great in States offense.

Virgil had a nice offer list and his film impressed me. shite if Murray decided to play baseball I would love to have him but the timing won't work

Happens at all schools but Mullen has made a real habit out of it. There was Joe Price from Madison who they dropped once Singleton committed to Ole Miss,WR Scott Austin who was committed for half a year before they dropped him, Darius Liggins who was committed for about half a year, and now this kid.

Also, please spare the "brutal honesty" bullshite. Mullen's staff blows air just like any other staff does.

I wouldn't say his high school coach was melting. He was making valid points in a public domain. To condemn a moral -less coach.

Not mad at you.. Just despicable for any coach to do this.
