Is Melvin Ray on the team next year? With JJ he could have a breakout year.

Are you comparing Braxton Miller to Russell Wilson? Are you a moron? Russell Wilson had as as many games sub 70% completion as Braxton Miller had sub 50% while at Wisconsin. Wilson threw for 73%, set the single season passer rating mark all in a new offense.

Not throwing the ball but with him running the read option with Roc and Jovon our offense would be immensely better than playing a pocket passer with no legit receivers

I don't understand everyone's insistence on this board that Jeremy Johnson is a statue in the mold of Peyton Manning. Just because he is good enough to play the pocket QB role well doesn't mean he isn't one of the most athletic QBs out there. He was a Mr. Basketball finalist as a guard/wing player. You can't do that unless you have elite athleticism/agility

JJ looked like a pretty darn good runner in those clips. I'm sure someone will find a way to downplay his clear athleticism.

Also, Gus doesn't let JJ take hits (rightfully so for a backup). When JJ is allowed to run with a 6'6 240+ frame is when the real fun will start.

JJ isn't going to take one 60 yards with his legs like Nick can. Nick can't throw 35 yard consistent strikes down the field like JJ can. The O has the potential to be just as dynamic as this year, but in a different way. I don't think Nick has a prayer of being an NFL QB. JJ definitely has the potential to be an NFL QB.

I really don't understand your point, though. The situations and players were/are completely different.

I'm just tired of the one and done QBS at AU...just want to see some consistency for a change. Next year would be 9 straight years with a different opening day QB had NM not gotten popped, and that only lasted a half.

Technically the streak would have ended as Marshall would have started for two years. Him being popped prolonged the streak

The original post was half joking because I know it would never happen.

My point now is that if our two receivers leave our offense would be much better with Braxton Miller than with Jeremy Johnson next year.

JJ's has a rocket arm, laser accuracy, with Tom Brady touch. He has the talent to one of the best QB's to ever wear an Auburn jersey. Randy Savage is a complete idiot to think BM is a better choice. Bookmark this post!

Braxton Miller is not an elite runner and is marginally better if any to JJ at running

Johnson has a much higher ceiling as a Jr than miller has as a Sr.

It's HS but you can still tell he can run.

With JJ and our RB's, I'm hoping, almost expecting next year's offense looks a little more like 2004...

If only our defense was at least half as good as the 2004 defense.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. JJs athleticism and play level when he has been given the opportunity is elite but comparing him to Tom Brady is a bit early

If Gus made this move, I would personally follow him around 24/7 just to 'BOO' at him. I might even key the Gus Bus!

Until we won the SEC, then you'd probably stop.

Braxton Miller has been pretty injury prone the last two years and Jeremy Johnson would likely transfer if he came to Auburn. That's just too risky, IMO. Why take an injury prone player for one year that would have to learn the entire offense, when you have Jeremy Johnson?
