Backup QB is always the best player on the team.

Don't get me wrong, I think JJ has a lot of potential but I think a more dual threat QB is what puts this offense on another level.

Particularly with our, what should be, strong OL and deep stable of RBs and lack of playmaking receivers if Sammie and Duke leave.

If Sammie and Duke leave there is almost zero doubt Miller would be a better fit for what we would need to do offensively next year.

Nah, I've had enough of inaccurate passing QBs. It's JJ time baby, and it's gonna be dy-na-mite!

Even if you ignore the fact he is extremely overrated, even for the B1G. Can you imagine what that would do to the future of QB recruiting? Let alone the locker room in general.

It would be perhaps the least intelligent move of Gus' career.

Yup. It would kill recruiting. Absolutely zero reason to bring in Miller when he really isn't even a clear upgrade.

I wouldn't want him to go somewhere like Miss St , TAMU or UF if he fits their new system.

That said he isn't that good or consistent, just athletic enough that when he does well he has a high ceiling

Yea bringing in Cam and Nick really killed our recruiting and locker room.

You guys can blow JJ all you want but if Sammie and Duke leave we are screwed.

36 TDs, 7 INTs, 64% 3,200 yards

I'll take that.

Who was our QB when we brought Cam in? Exactly.

If you are replacing a scrub QB then it is fine, because recruits understand that. Jeremy Johnson is starter-caliber right now and has been waiting patiently. You would send an absolutely terrible message that you've been stringing around a top recruit for two years only to bring in a mercenary his Junior season when it is his time to step in. Nobody is blowing anyone, Jeremy Johnson will be great in this offense.

The thing is there was a group of people who talked about Barrett Trotter the same way you guys are talking about JJ.

Don't get me wrong, those people are dumb but the point still stands.

If you think JJ is going to be great with Marcus Davis and Ricardo Louis as his top targets I feel bad for you next year.

With JJ and our RB's, I'm hoping, almost expecting next year's offense looks a little more like 2004...

Again, Sammie and Duke we are fine with JJ.

Without, we would be MUCH better off with Miller.

He had 3 games in Big 10 play + hoorible OOC throwing under 50% in 2013. That is more than Nick Marshall had last year and only 1 less than NM has had in his AU career.

After our fanbase melting about Nick's lack of passing this is a horrible idea

Braxton Miller wouldn't do any better.

I'm not melting about Nick at all, he has been fantastic for Auburn. People will realize that once he's gone.

Not throwing the ball but with him running the read option with Roc and Jovon our offense would be immensely better than playing a pocket passer with no legit receivers.

Mmm-K, I didn't say a damn word about JJ. Your comment about Trotter is dumb as well because I/we ain't those people. It is asinine to compare the sitch now to the one then at QB.

We will have whoever we have at WR. You might be shocked once they start getting consistent targets with catchable balls. Duke and Sammie are gone.

But you can't develop kids and recruit a position like QB that way. That is how you wind up with a WR corps like ours to begin with. If you desire to be a good team once every 3-4 years when he hit jackpot at QB then have at it. But if you want a team with shot to win year in, year out, build it and they will come.
