Citing a pair of sources close to the situation, Chip Brown of HornsDigest.com is reporting that an A&M-UT bowl game this year will not happen because “apparently the Aggies –- or perhaps the SEC on the Aggies’ behalf –- [will make] sure there will be no postseason matchup of two of college football’s most bitter divorcees.” Per the report, the SEC has made it clear to bowl games with SEC-Big 12 tie-ins that the conference “won’t support a Texas vs Texas A&M postseason matchup” because, Brown writes, “A&M has too much to lose from a potential loss.”

As the theory goes, A&M is the top dog in recruiting in the state of Texas and playing UT in a bowl game, with the possibility of a loss, could potentially cause damage to the Aggies on that front.

I'd like to see TAMU end each year with an OOC game against Texas. South Carolina does it with Clemson, Florida does it with Florida State. Why not revive that great rivalry?

Texans are a proud people, and my personal opinion is that neither team wants to blink first. Stubbornness may keep these two from playing long before any other factor.

I think they were always under the shadow of that program. It's time to get some separation and make the gap very evident. Just like scheduling, you have to be smart year(s) in advance when you schedule.

Every decision is money based and success based. So, I doubt it's that they are afraid but more that they want to follow a good business model. Perception is everything.

Chip Brown. Know your source, Trey. Guy is a UT spin master.

No way A&M is afraid to play texas. I haven't even paid attention to the horns this year-are they even going to make a bowl game?

Aggies are just being considerate. They know we want a shot at punching utjr's lights out.

If only we had thought of that. Oh wait, we did. They said they did not want to play us and would not play us if we bolted to the SEC.

Oh and Chip Brown

Because, if we rearranged the schedule to accommodate an end of year series with them, it would only be a matter of time before they decided to back out and leave us with a gaping hole in the schedule.

When you get down to the logistics of the matter, the only way it could happen is if Kansas and Missouri also decided to resume playing and agreed to play on that final weekend (LSU and Arkansas would then go back to playing the final weekend). That's one more set of variables to potentially screw things up if someone gets mad and calls it off.

For these reasons, if we schedule them in the future, it won't be for the final game.

I do so enjoy to heap scorn and abuse on my Aggie friends but I have to think Texas A&M would be filling jizz jars like it was the end of the world for a shot at Texas. Especially since they won't be playing them any time soon. A beat down delivered to the Horns that you can cherish for years?

My only argument against this is that if Arkansas gets bowl eligible we should have that game. A good reward for a rebuilding season.

Either way, whichever SWC survivor gets a chance to play Texas in a bowl they will jump on it with both feet.

Cough. 2012 Cotton Bowl. Cough. Texas wanted no part. So we had to put the smack down on the team that beat Texas, 63-21.

And look at this baby back bitch.

quote:

"'We’re scheduled out with non-conference games through 2018 and our Big 12 schedule is not yet settled,' Dodds said in an email to then-A&M athletic director Bill Byrne. 'What we have right now is a full schedule, but if any future options are available, the decision will not be made by just one person.'"

Won't happen anytime soon. Texas won't let them, and they're still in great need of Butt Paste over us leaving.
