I think it has more to do with the perceived culture of different races. Whites do the same things as blacks such as drugs, murder and other crimes. But black hip hop culture pushes drugs and gang banging, and when those in it's society dress the same way and act and talk the same way as the music well there you have it. Listen to a stereotypical white genre like country, people just like that act the same way with jacked up trucks and what not. I would love to see the stats on DUIs and DWIs for whites compared to other races.

I can't believe I'm about to agree with you BUT, THIS (without the hipty hop statement)

I've been arrested twice and both times I was doing illegal shite, I understand and accept that

And don't give me this shite about whites doing the same crimes and not getting arrested, might it have something to do with certain black ppl being rocket scientists and breaking into houses at 7 I clock at night on a Tuesday with a bunch of drugs in their possession? (story on the OT a few days ago)

If you're gonna do the crime, don't be completely moronic about it. Break into a house at 10 am during the week when the white folks are at work WITHOUT drugs on you, dumbass

Then the numbers of violent crime in certain areas versus others are interesting if it's just "perception".

This is the silliest arguement I've ever seen in my life.

Look, I'm black. Becuase of my prevoius drug history and to keep my self grounded, I do a class once every 2 weeks at a local half way house that shows people fresh out of prison how to apply for jobs, how to use the internet for things other than porn and music videos lol and real life skills as far as how to live a clean and sober life. I've been clean for 6 and a half years.

Anyway, there are about 90 people in the facility. 90% of them are fresh out of prison. Of them, 90% of them are white.

White people are not inherently less violent than black people or mexicans or whatever. HOwever, black people are more likely to be POOR than white people and arrest is a socioeconomic issue not a race one.

5 years ago I completed drug court and out of the 40 or so people in there, there were 3 of us that what a normal person from the outside would consider "normal", not a street person, a person with a real job, who just got caught up and it got out of hand. Of the three of us, not one of us ever failed a drug test we all graduated on time.

If you're white and you grow up and you're parents aren't around and they are off cooking dope or your mom is a hoe and she's never at home to help you with your homework and stuff you have a trash family and you live around trash people you are just as likely to go to prison as the black guy whose mom is on food stamps and the dad is no where around and he lives in a shite environment with a shite family.

yes I'm black but I grew up with both parents, I went to church every sunday, my parents helped me with my homework and I'm smart enough to do things to have to go to prison. If I need money I just work harder. I don't have to rob anyone or go "trap" to make money.

Meh, I've had more than one minority friend who this strategy didn't work for.

There is no denying that AAs commit crimes at a higher rate than other groups as a percentage of their population, but there is a very real advantage to not being black when it comes to police encounters. Every year hundreds of black people are arrested in this country in situations where, had they been white, they would have been allowed to walk away or never stopped in the first place.

I've been pulled over back in the day.. more than once, with amounts of dope in my possession that would have put me in jail for some calendars. I got pulled over one day with no less than half an ounce of coke one day, I had just came from the dealer and I was about to kick it HARD lol. I got pulled over for a busted tail light.

But that day I had just left work, I was driving a new Caddy and I had on a polo shirt with some kahki's. Cop didn't even bother to check the car, gave me a warning for driivng too fast and I went home and got tore up

The day I got arrested I was leaving the gym and I had on some shite clothes and I was driving my knock around 95 accord, cop couldn't wait to get in my ar to find the $10 dollars worth of dope crumbs on the floor

True but my point was that law enforcement tend to patrol and police black neighborhoods more because of their cultural backgrounds. A Big part of the urban/black culture is rap music that glorifies gangbanging and drug dealing and murdering muthafrickas. People in the neighborhoods mirror this behavior and do it openly and violently so of course police are going to go after them.

I live in a subdivision, I could easily be growing pot in my backyard and selling it to people in my neighborhood, I could have a fully automatic weapon in my house and all the works. But I mow my grass, keep up my house, dress professionally and have a job. From the look of it I am a law abiding citizen, and to catch me its going to take real investigative prowess and police work, ie I don't make it easy.

Blacks tend to make it easy for police by putting it all out there.

A lot has to do with attitude as well, same with getting tickets usually. A little courtesy and respect goes a long ways. But most people are so narcissistic, that they will become combative towards any type of authority, no matter if they're in the wrong and many times, people escalate the situations. Not every time.. but enough to matter.

I agree with you 100%. Why argue and have a shitty attitude towards someone who can make your day fricking miserable for doing just that? Even if you fight the ticket in court, you still have to waste time doing so.

The way I look at it is this: if I get a speeding ticket, I have sped probably 1000 times to that one ticket. Chances are I deserved it and the cop is only doing his job. I have had some dickhead cops give me tickets and I have argued about them but that was after I already knew that he was a dickhead and that I was going to get a ticket no matter how I handled it. I got a ticket on Alabama's "take back the roads" campaign when I was pulling a trailer with 12,000 pounds on it behind my 2500 going down a hill and he gave me a ticket for 61 in a 55. The guy was just a dickhead and if he had checked his radar literally 2 seconds later when I started up the hill I was doing around 50 in a 55. Fact is that I let off the brake and let the trailer push me down the hill because that is the safest way to pull a trailer down the hill to prevent it from going out from behind you. The cop wanted none of that because he was on a money raising mission and had a chance to give a ticket.

As for getting arrested, don't do illegal shite and don't get arrested. My house was broken in to when I was working an hour away, I had several cops in my house while I was on my way home and had no worries about it. Why? I don't have illegal shite in my house and don't do illegal shite. I got home and the cops were nice to me and I was nice back. Shitty situation to be in coming home to a home break in but it wasn't the cops fault, why would I be rude to them?

The problem I have with "root causers" (poverty and socio-economic staus breed crime) is poverty levels in America are nowhere near now what they were in the Great Depression. That was real poverty. And crime rates were nowhere near what they are now.

People commit crimes for a simple reason - because they can.

80 years ago if a black guy got caught stealing from a house there was a very good chance that he would have gotten killed if he lived in the south. Chance probably isn't even the word i'm looking for.

With that said, It's more of a nuclear family issue than a socioeconomic issue. It's just that, like race, most families who have money are 2 parent households

Not my logic just the way society operates.

But to be clear your suposition is if blacks are arrested less they will comit less crimes? because that would be the inverse.

No, my supposition is that using race as a primary predictor of criminal behavior while ignoring socioeconomic status (which is a much better predictor) is disingenuous.
