What's it look like these days?

I know 107.5 The Game now dominates, but are there any alternatives still alive?

Clear Channel really blew-it losing the Gamecock rights what, 12 years ago now?

And someone bought-out Citadel, which owned 107.5, among others. Or was 107.5 the only station that was sold?

And what happened to 1320 AM and 560 AM? I was told Teddy Heffner was fired? Carey Rich too?

I could be wrong but I think there is a sports show on 95.9 The Point, Kevin Cohen's radio station, at 6PM on weeknights.

Thank you. I'm going to have to listen in a little while and check that out.

Kevin actually knows sports. I remember when he was doing The Cheap Seats almost 20 years ago.

A friend in the business referred me to the following link but added a caveat to help explain what happened to me.

https://www.thestate.com/2014/10/28/3773759_teddy-heffner-off-the-air-at-560.html?rh=1

He said back in September Teddy Heffner was a guest on the Paul Finebaum show after dissing a reporter, (I must have missed that.). Anyways, Heffner evidently went on an anti-Spurrier rant ripping him every which way he could and being so disrespectful to the point of Finebaum actually had to start defending Spurrier.

Subsequently the General Manager got so many complaints from listeners and advertisers alike, who were made privy to the interview by way of an online link that went viral of the interview ... that he decided enough was enough and he pulled the plug on the entire format citing too much headache to deal with.

Carey Rich was evidently collateral damage.

107.5
Doing this from memory
Early game - pure fricking drivel. Basically a 4 hour paid commercial for golden eagle precious metals exchange. And benji mentioning his taters every 10 seconds.

Dan patrick

Jay phillips- drivel

Heath kline-personally i think this guy actually knows his sports, he is just the most condescending mother fricker on earth when someone has a valid dissagreement w him.

560
I remeber teddy going anywhere that would have him to rip spurrier. Dude was such a douche. Read the newspaper on air. Good fricking riddance.

Not sure
Their is still an afternon show with wild bill something or other...,
Evening show for delusional taters

I was talking to some people last night at the ballgame who live in Columbia and they said 560 AM had also dropped Sports Talk with Phil Kornblut and Kevin McCrary. That show had been on 560 AM since the 80s when Mick Mixon started that show. They said it was moved somewhere else but they were not sure where and that nobody listens to it anymore.

So I guess 107.5 The Game is it these days, and that's fine with me.

I found-out that WNKT is now owned by Cumulus Media rather than Citadel, who they bought-out a few years ago. Evidently Cumulus Media is much more pro-sports, pro midsize market, than was Citadel. They are based out of Atlanta and evidently very fond of our market up here and the job the station is doing here.
