Can I tell Bundy and Darkhorse I told them so yet? Or should I wait?

I guess you missed the part about St Louis being a perennial tournament team.

We also play FSU this year and Oregon state. Much better OOC than when Stansbury was here.

It doesn't matter though. There will always be some excuse.

I won't be sold on Ray until he wins the SEC. That being said, we have looked good so far.

Excuse about what? And why are you comparing Stansbury? Maybe you should calm the frick down. I've supported Ray since he got here and have not wavered. But to overlook some of these RPI killers is just being blind.

Winning or not winning the SEC won't make him a good or bad coach. That is a terrible criteria you have set for him.

The way this thread was going and after reading your post I just assumed you were part of the "Ray sucks, the basketball team sucks, I'm not going to the games because they all suck, we should have kept Stansbury" crowd. My fault.

We do play some atrocious teams, but we have plenty of winnable games against teams in good conferences or teams like St Louis that look good on a resume come tourney time.

Lost to TCU in the tourney we played in on Saturday. I'm going to try to watch both games tonight and report back.

I saw several people who expect TCU to make some noise this year.

Yeah hopefully they don't collapse like they did last year after beating us.

Well we lost to Tulane. We suck and this needs to be Rays last season.

We fricked our program getting rid of Stans when we did. Should have waited till a year with better coaching options available that we could get while having some talent to takeover. Now we have no program or talent that's attractive to a decent coach

We had a bad all-around game last night. Just a total shitburger. That said, Tulane is 6-1 now. The ROAD loss last night dropped us 5 whole spots in RPI. Not the end of the world, but certainly not great for NIT hopes. The fact that Tulane plays in the American now means that they are going to be a decent RPI team even if they are terrible. Strength of schedule is 2/3 of RPI.

What reason do we have to believe that anything would have gotten better in another year? We'd been falling off a cliff for 4 years. Postponing when you hit rock bottom doesn't prevent it from happening.

It's infinitely more attractive now than it was when he hired Ray. There is no culture problem anymore. Culture problems were a larger reason we whiffed on coaches. And it's hardly any wonder considering Ray basically inherited a death sentence. Roquez is the only player that made year 3 that ever saw a minute of basketball under Stansbury. The rest of them selfished/smoked their way right out of the program.

We are going to add a 4* and probably Malik Newman in next class and 2 more good players. We lose Bloodman and Roquez and will have to make the numbers work out for Malik. There is hardly any reason to dump Ray at this point. Has the rebuild taken longer than we hoped? Yes. But we're getting there. We need to compete for the NIT this year.

Year 4 -- NCAAs or bust adding Malik, Tookie, Weatherspoon.

Then, in year 5 -- we add(at least) 2 more 4* guys already committed.

Ray figuring out recruiting is what's ultimately going to get him a 4th and probably a 5th year. Unless he crashes and burns this year spectacularly.

Would like to see how this whole season plays out before making any judgements on what I think about Ray, not just on one game, but I will say that the performance at Tulane was shitastic. We've got little to no shot making ability on this team and its even more emphasized when we play on the road. Didn't really play that well on defense either as we allowed a number of easy points on back door cuts and just losing our man under the basket. A loss to Oregon State Saturday and it will get very difficult for us to even sniff the NIT.

No, we should have done it a year earlier.

Yeah because there would have been a frick ton of coaches knocking our door down to be the next coach if we fired Ray after 2 seasons.

Jesus Christ.
