Alabama and LSU both put tons of players in the NFL. But...

Why is Alabama still good and continues to dominate whereas LSU waxes and wanes with the loss of talent? This was supposed to be a "down" year for Bama too but here they are again - #1 in the the CFP

I don't remember this being proclaimed as a down year for Bama...their biggest lost was at QB and they can obviously play around that. They were pretty well set everywhere else.

One answer is you need a decent OC.

Have an upvote.
I'd rather come to the SEC Rant and put up with the piggies and aggies than hang out on tRant and read the bashing from our own fans.

You're going to get roasted on here by the insecure LSU fans who like to put up a "tough guy" front - as if we aren't able to click on the Tiger Rant any time we want and see what LSU fans are really thinking.

I think you pose a legitimate question, and one that I think a lot of other SEC fans have wondered too. To be honest, I don't know the answer to the question. It could be the science of recruiting in cycles, or it could be young player development.

Either way, I think your question deserves a legitimate answer... but don't expect to receive one from your fellow Tiger fans.

You must have taken a break from the SECR between February-August.

Like that's going to happen here.

Yeah I'll rephrase: I don't remember this being proclaimed as a down year for Bama by people that know what the frick they are talking about.

I gave a decent answer.

Chavous is excellent at what he does and LSUs defense has, for the most part, been solid for many a year.

It's your offense that cannot stay consistently above average.

Fair enough... I think the biggest question mark (and rightfully so) was at quarterback for us. It's tough to judge how good a team is gonna be when you don't have a clue who their QB is going to be or if he's going to have a case of teh suck. Thankfully, Blake has done better than most Bama fans expected.

Better coaching and recruiting is the difference maker. Plain and simple.

Because, despite what others on here say, Saban and his staff do an excellent job developing talent. Miles is an outstanding recruiter, and when certain things come together, as they do every few years, he has outstanding teams. But when young players go pro and the ball doesn't bounce his way, he has trouble. Saban eliminates externalities.

As for this Season,I think the biggest thing for Bama was having a 5th year Senior step in at QB.

If Sims were not on the Team,Bama would be very young at QB and I think it would've shown.
