I have no idea what you guys thought of him when he was Zook's OC, but he has UF ties. He is an offensive mind, with a lot of HC experience. I know his current record at UNC isn't great, but I believe it's at least partially due to the sanctions, the rest is not having the type of talent he needs to run a wide open offense. I witnessed first hand his time at USM and the job he did to bring that program up from the gutter to a potential BCS buster can't be overstated. I think the guy is a major sleeper with the right DC to complement him. Do you think he'll be considered even though he's fallen off a bit?

He will definitely be considered. He's also a really good recruiter. Not sure he brings the notoriety to surround himself with really good assistants though.

He pretty much left the USM program in shamble though.

I think he makes sense if bigger names fall through, I just didn't know if there was a back-story there from his time with Zook. Was he regarded as a good OC?

I have several USM alumni in the family, and the way he left there definitely makes me not like him much. I totally get taking the better job, but he threw a really good team completely under the bus.

I don't think he did any worse than any other coach who gets a better offer. He recruited well while he was there. Word around the program is that Ellis Johnson treated his time at USM as a prison sentence, and never gave the illusion of trying.

Yes. He's well respected offensively. Think he will be considered but probably not in the top 10-15 guys.

I actually think he might be a really good coach, but no way we are hiring a guy with such a poor record at UNC. Foley is going to make a splash hire. Too bad UNC was under sanctions, or Fedora may have won enough to seriously be considered.

North Carolina has given up record number of points this year.

Combine that with the way he left USm = no thanks.

There's always something, or the guy would be coaching somewhere you can't pull him from. The trick is find a guy who's "something" won't be an issue at your school. Making HC experience such a priority really changes the game.
