From the outside looking in... This year has been an awful coaching job, starting from the top all the way down.. Malzahn has struggled with his play calling in a number of games and has failed to have the team prepared in nearly every game that mattered this year besides LSU.. Even against Ole Miss we played average at best and got bailed out by 2 critical turnovers.. I'm all for Gus going forward and I am glad he is our coach but with the talent and expectations put on this team he did a poor job.. And Ellis Johnson is just not good anymore, the game has passed him by.. This is arguably the worst auburn defense I have ever seen.. Please fire him and go after Muschamp ASAP!!!

How many of these threads must we endure? 10? 25? 150,000?

Only the good Lord knows.

Kids have to make plays. Personally - never played college football - I suspect there is a fine line between being ready to play and not being ready to play.

Same with coaching - Neither the players or coaches have hit their stride this year. We are not good enough yet to just show up and win. This league is too tough.

Name one Auburn defense since 1990 that has been worse than this defense over the last 5 games?

disagree strongly.. We are awful offensively in 2012 which kept the defense on the field the entire game. That defense was much better, so was 2011, by a long shot

The 2012 defense looked improved with VanGorder even if it didn't show up in PAPG. Fundamentals and assignments looked better. 2009 and 2011 were both pretty bad, but I think this 2014 defense by far takes the cake. Worst defense I've ever seen at Auburn.

i still say the D is getting a bad rap. they're not elite by a long shot, but the D isn't the reason those 3 games were lost.

Up until this past weekend, AUs Offense has played Championship caliber football. It the Defense was capable of 3 additional stops a game, AU would lead the SEC in Offense. The D has put a lot of pressure on this Offense to be perfect.
