Already Bowl Eligible:

Alabama 9-1
Mississippi State 9-1
Ole Miss 8-2
Auburn 7-3
Texas A&M 7-4
LSU 7-4
Missouri 8-1
Georgia 8-2

On the verge of eligibility:

Arkansas 5-5
Florida 5-4
South Carolina 5-5
Tennessee 5-5
Kentucky 5-6

Arkansas plays Ole Miss and Missouri. Definitely has a shot to beat either of these teams. I'd bet that Arkansas beats Missouri if I had to choose just one.

Florida plays Eastern Kentucky and Florida State. Florida should beat Eastern Kentucky and therefore be eligible. (Why do they only play 11 games?)

South Carolina plays South Alabama and Clemson. They should beat South Alabama and become eligible.

Tennessee plays Missouri and Vanderbilt. As long as they don't choke versus Vandy, they should be in.

Kentucky only has Louisville left, so despite a 5-1 start to the season, poor Kentucky probably gets left out again. Business as usual. Never know though.

So the SEC has 8 already guaranteed to be eligible, 3 more who almost certainly should be eligible by the end of the season, and 2 more in Arkansas and Kentucky who still have a chance to get in. So possibly 13/14 teams could be bowl eligible.

That is incredible from top to bottom of the conference. Now assuming that one team makes the playoff, that leaves 12 teams to fill 10 bowl affiliations. If all other conferences somehow fill all their affiliations, do our lowest 2 just get left out?

SEC
If No. 1 isn't in College Football Playoff
1. Allstate Sugar Bowl or Discover Orange Bowl
2. Capital One Bowl vs. ACC or Big Ten No. 2 The conference will assign teams to the respective bowls in this pool
3. Outback Bowl vs. Big Ten No. 3
4. Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl vs. ACC or Big Ten
5. TaxSlayer Gator Bowl vs. ACC or Big Ten
6. AutoZone Liberty Bowl vs. Big 12
7. Texas Bowl vs. Big 12
8. Belk Bowl vs. ACC
9. Birmingham Bowl vs. ACC
10. AdvoCare V100 Bowl vs. ACC

One was cancelled due to lightning. They would have one that one easily.

I want the Texas bowl. It's been 20 years since we last played a current member of the Big XII.

I think Bama and State both make the playoffs.

I think regardless of 6-6 or 7-5 SC will likely get the Belk Bowl due to its location in Charlotte. If not that I hope it's the Gator Bowl because those are the only two locations I'd be willing to drive for a 6-6 / 7-5 type team.

eta: Not sure how their season is going but I hope it's not the Belk Bowl vs UNC considering we open up the season vs UNC next season in Charlotte.

The projection I saw earlier had Arkansas facing Memphis in the Birmingham bowl.

I'd take it, the 20 extra practices would be what our young guys need.

We can still ask the NCAA for a special waiver and get a bowl with 5 wins. How does "That dick Franklin stole our recruits" special exemption sound? Maybe?

I don't want to draw a bowl against an ACC team because it would be too boring. I just want an interesting matchup against a school we rarely play.

I can't imagine Gamecock fans being interested in playing a mediocre Big XII team in comparison to a mediocre.

For example, how many Gamecock fans would make the trip out to Texas to see SC play a 6-6 Red Raiders team? (or whatever their record is)

Oh yea I'm not arguing for what most USC fans want, I'm arguing for what I want. I'd much rather see us play Oklahoma State than Boston College but that's just me.

IIRC Florida's first game was cancelled due to weather. Strong storms I believe.

this is a bit misleading... There is no pecking order for any of these anymore, all are pool play! teams 3-6 (4-9 if 2 teams are chosen for playoff, etc) are placed with regards to location fan travel, support, etc in agreement with conference office, University athletic dept, and bowl office.

The liberty could get anyone from 3rd in conference to 9th in conference. The payouts are now the same, or close to it across the board from these pool bowls..

OK...

Like hell, even if they aren't that good that year I don't want to see our defense against any pass-oriented team.

Ok, I don't actually mean OSU but you get my point. I want to see a game against a state school we don't normally play. No shitty ACC commuter school.
