It's pretty apparent that Spurrier will be tendering his resignation in favor of Hilton Head fairways in a few weeks. Hell, based on his team's play he "unofficially" turned it in sometime last season. That's OK, something about his demeanor recently tells me he is looking forward to retirement.
A few recent meltdowns in key games and situations have really cost USCjr the little national respect they had earned over the past few years. Now, we all just point and laugh. And mark USCjr week as a win on our preseason calendars.
A quick evaluation of their roster shows approximately zero QB potential for next season.
Austin Hails, RS JR
Walk-on quarterback who joined the squad when the roster expanded in the fall of 2011
2013: Spent the season in a reserve role working with the scout team.
2012: Spent the season in a reserve role working with the scout team.
Connor Mitch, RS FR
2013: Enrolled at Carolina in January 2013... took a redshirt in the fall.
PERSONAL: Connor Mitch is a sport and entertainment management major... comes from an athletic family...
Perry Orth, RS SO
Walk-on quarterback who has impressed the coaches enough to figure in the mix
2012: Spent the fall semester at Florida State College, a community college in Jacksonville... did not play football.
earned the "Big Plays" award for the offense during the 2014 spring drills
Michael Scarnecchia, FR
uncle, Sam Scarnecchia, played football at Miami (Fla.)... was a member of the National Honor Society... interested in neurology.
You know what they say: when the going gets tough, the tough get going. And that is exactly what the old ball coach is going to do. Well, kind of. I don't see grandpa Spurrier sticking around for 3 more years for one last gasp at relevance.
I figured I could start a conversation with all the USCjr fans on this board to see who they feel is a likely candidate to replace the ball coach.
First of all, let's evaluate hiring from within
Steve Spurrier - Head Coach
Deke Adams - Defensive Line
Kirk Botkin - Linebackers/Spurs
Grady Brown - Secondary/Assistant Special Teams Coordinator
Shawn Elliott - Co-Offensive Coordinator/Offensive LIne
G.A. Mangus - Quarterbacks/Tight Ends
Joe Robinson - Special Teams Coordinator
Everette Sands - Running Backs
Jamie Speronis - Associate AD/Football Operations
Steve Spurrier Jr. - Co-Offensive Coord/Wide Receivers/Recruiting Coord
Lorenzo Ward - Defensive Coordinator
Joey Blake - Director of Football Nutrition
Robbie Liles - Director - Recruiting Operations
Patrick Shine - Administrative Coordinator - Recruiting
Scott Spurrier - Quality Control Coordinator (Offense)
Shaq Wilson - Quality Control Coordinator (Defense)
Hmm it appears half this "star studded" staff is related. I guess once gramps retires, the younger generation is likely to depart USCjr as well. Not sure who the frick any of these other guys are, so let me know if I am missing a home-run hire here
I do think they can look close to home though. In fact, a fine young man has his team firing on all cylinders not far from Columbia. Not sure why he would want to leave his current gig for a total rebuild, but I wouldn't rule him out as a possibility. It's always good to have high aspirations
Or maybe looking to a former player? With interest in the program declining rapidly, rallying the base around a former beloved player might be just what the doctor ordered for USCjr. Plus, he isn't exactly "tied down" with football anymore. I think it's a possibility worth exploring for the Gamecocks
As for hiring from the college/pro ranks, what say you, USCjr fans? Give me a wish list and a few likely candidates.

At 69, does he have it in him to go back to Florida to try and relive the glory days?

52-7 still stings huh?
Did we ruin your homecoming?

If he were to go back to UF, I'm sure it'd be some deal where Junior could take over after he retired after a few years.

USCjr must be so happy to not have us on their loss column from now on. Last night's beatdown in Fayettenam could have easily happened to the cocks

Holy shite, you guys are what? 1-14 in your last 15 SEC games and talking shite? You let one of our boys get under your skin so badly you write yourself a nice little thesis in the OP?

Sorry you have to win hypothetical victories instead of winning actual SEC games more than once every 17 tries.

Beats LSU - First thread back is about 5-5 South Carolina

The problem is, they replaced us with A&M as cross division...so they still got dick broken off inside them, it just wasn't ours.
Probably comforting to the Cocks. Hell I bet if they squinted Aggy looked like the Hogs running a train all over them on national TV. Just like old times

Not to mention he has to use an old picture of us vs Arkansas. What year was that picture from 2010? Sorry his fatass coach was the victim of our largest margin of victory over an SEC team ever.

We still couldn't top USCjr's SEC losing streak (18)! Yall are just better at losing than the hogs can ever be
Posted on 11/16/14 at 4:47 pm to theGarnetWay
Junior went in dry on the hogs and they're still upset.

I'm just trying to start a discussion with my SEC brethren
I've noticed that the rant likes to give lots of input during (and after) a coaching change, so I'm giving yall uscjr folks a chance to sound off about your next ball coach

Didn't we have a backup transfer from Arkansas score at the end?

You have to go back to 1999 to talk shite
You're comparing your team's streak to a team that literally went winless for close to two seasons. This isn't a good look for you bruh. Step it up.

It kind of sucks they fell off our schedule when their decline has begun. Instead we get to play an actual top East team yearly while A&M gets a bottom feeder.

Funny, we felt the same way about the Hogs.

How is this better for USClite? Like I said, your program is so much better at losing that it isn't even fair for you to gloat at how bad you historically are as a program. You've had decades to practice being shitty. Stop making fun of us for just getting our feet wet with SEC losing streaks
