They're probably right. Resigning looks better and I'm sure Foley recommended this and graciously accepted it.

Does he still get the $6.4M buyout or not? Was is one of "those" types of resignations?

It's like when Kathleen Sebelius "resigned."

That makes more sense. Unless they have somebody not working waiting in the wings -- and there aren't many unemployed HCs that Florida would be desperate to get -- firing a coach with only 2 weeks to go in the season is just weird.

This. How is the buyout affected with a resignation?

No coach who resigns is payed his buyout for being fired.

Boom get paid = fired.

I'm sure they worked out an acceptable financial arrangement.

Case in point: the current coach of Texas State. His fat disgusting arse waited until after the buyout expired to take a head coaching job because he's just a piece of shite.

Semantics...

Foley fired him but by Muschamp resigning, they can structure a buyout.

Yes.

He was fired but he will "pay" to have it appear to have been his decision.

It is a great way to use a person's ego against them, no one wants to say they were fired, but will accept other thinking it was their decision.

We did the same with Nutt.
