Did tonight save Chaney's job?

scored 17 points on the #13 overall defense, converted a bunch of 3rd downs, and BA looked pretty good. his improvement from last year and over the course of the year can't be overstated.
but frick those sweep plays and the 3rd and 2 pass play tonight tho
I still wouldn't mind seeing him go

I didn't think he was getting canned end of yeah either way, but he's definitely not now.

God I hope not.

Unfortunately I don't think it was ever in jeopardy. However, If he decides to continue using our strengths and calls a pretty decent game like he did tonight, I don't mind if he stays. Let's just hope he doesn't need a bye week every damn time to prepare for a big game or any game for that matter.

That pass play on 3rd and 2 made me want to punt a kitten. I turned to my wife and said "what the frick, BERT JUST MADE A "MILK THE CLOCK" HAND MOTION."
I guess after Skipper got his weekly PF in, Chaney remembered he had to fill his quota of dumbassery as well.

Chaney's issues could be masked if we ever get a decent QB that can actually complete passes, as shown last night. If we continue to not get value out of our QB, Chaney will destroy many many chances to win. I personally want him gone and have for a while. His playcalling is way too cute for the style we want.

Before both J-Will's goalline TD and Collins' TD (both were on 3rd down IIRC), I told myself "if we throw here or run a sweep, I'm gonna insta-rage and break something."

The end of the first half was pretty bad--didn't seem like we really had a plan for when we got good field position with that long pass. We had about 45 seconds to get 15-20 yards to be in field goal range, and we only got two plays out of it, IIRC.
That's not all Chaney's fault because I think we still had one timeout left to use.
And, as everyone has mentioned, that 3rd and 2 call made no sense. At that point we don't really need a first down, we just need to burn clock. Keep it safe, play to our strength, and run the ball straight at the first down line. If we don't get it, we still kill 40 seconds and we don't risk an interception/pick six.

Here's one of my issues with him.
In an interview early in the week of the Georgia game, maybe Sunday or Monday, he was asked about the way he was planning to attack Georgia. Chaney's response was that he really hadn't even begun to watch film on them and hadn't given it much thought yet, but he'd be doing film study on them that day and would get prepared.
Well for a coordinator week of the game seems really late to be starting your film work and working an outline of where you think you can have success.
We promptly got our heads bashed against a rock, came out flat in all phases of the game, and it took Georgia coasting and the wills of those kids to not get blown out for it to even be a 2 possession game at the end.

We won, and we won convincingly, but that 3rd and 2 call probably came close to causing a stroke in just about every Razorback fan watching. He might be a great guy and good fit at a program running a different style of offense but I don't think he is the right guy for what we want to do.

This x 100. I really thought that that might be the start of how we could frick up the win.
That's where you grab your linemen (one of the best lines in the country) by the face mask, and you say...Make a hole, and we win this game. Then you give the ball to J-WILLgetitdone.
The only thing I can think is that Chaney was thinking that everyone in the world knows we are about to run this...I'm going to hit them with a little surprise. But..water under the bridge now.
AND...we threw a screen pass!! Holy hell!! A screen pass, and it worked!!
Finally.
